Schezo Wegey is a dark wizard who possesses ancient magic and wields the Dark Sword. He has a tendency to drop scathing remarks, as well as a tendency to utter carelessly worded comments, oftentimes with his catchphrase "I want you!". This oftentimes leads to others calling him a pervert or creeper, much to his chagrin. Deep within his cool and collected personality, he harbors a liking for cute animals such as Dongurigaeru. According to ancient languages, his name means "the gorgeous man who defiles the gods."

Schezo appears as a young adult with silver-white hair and blue eyes. How his hair is shaped varies slightly, but is typically depicted to be short, with it being wavy in the PC-98 version of Madou Monogatari 2. He typically wars a light blue bandana on his head. His clothes tend to vary in design between games, but share the common trait of having a matching cape. He also carries the Dark Sword in hand, the weapon's design having design changes as well. It is typically shaped like a longsword, with the blade being translucent or clear as glass.
In Madou Monogatari 2, he wore sleeveless white robes, blue pants, a blue or white cape attached to brown or blue shoulderpads depending on the platform, and blue wristbands. The opening scene in the PC-98 version has him wearing simple ring bands as well. This design served as the basis of his outfit in the first three Puyo games, being given long sleeves with blue cuffs, and white pants instead. In Tower of the Magician, they would be black with gold decorations instead, and have a shorter blue cape on top of a longer black one.
In other games such as Madou Monogatari: ARS and the Puyo games starting with Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary he would wear more swordsman-like attire, forgoing shoulderpads in favor of a breastplate and greaves that would cover his calves. The colors vary between games ranging from being black, purple, dark blue, or indigo. He would wear a belt along with this ensemble, and his cape would be held with a clasp or a belt.
Schezo is calm, aloof, and a no-nonsense man of not-many words. He prefers solitude and consequently keeps to himself, not forming many relationships with others. He chooses to make his home in caves and considers them to be suitable for a dark wizard such as himself. Schezo strives to become the strongest dark wizard. His quest for dominance often leads to him wanting other people's magical power, usually Arle's due to their meeting and clashing often. However, he has also been known to desire other sources of power he senses, such as Amitie's puyo hat and Sig's demonic arm.
Schezo may come off as intimidating and uncomfortable to be around, but this front is often muddled by his lapses of awkward wording that, more often than not, breaks into double entendre. Usually this is due to him slipping up while specifying what he actually wants, and instead carelessly uttering the phrase, "I want you!" As a result, a lot of people call him a "pervert" (ヘンタイ hentai) or "creeper", a label that he is easily peeved and upset by. Schezo also has a tendency to be very blunt at times, his careless honesty cutting into others a little too deep. Meanwhile, he fails to understand what the problem with his wording is.
Schezo may be softer than first impressions give. Despite his seriousness, however, he has a soft spot for cute animals such as Dongurigaeru, and is not averse to gushing over their cuteness in front of others. He also appears to enjoy baking, somehow managing to bake a wedding cake for himself in his cave, before the whole thing is eaten by a sugar-deprived Lemres in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.
Schezo also appears to have a lot of knowledge, particularly related to magic. However, it seems that his knowledge does not necessarily translate to wisdom, as his words and actions often land him in hot water.
He is also implied to be autistic, showing many traits of it. He often slips up while speaking, finding it difficult to speak his thoughts in entirety. He also finds intense enjoyment in both dark magic and cute things, and spends most of his time pursuing these interests. He has tendency to be too literal at times, being unable to solve Yu and Rei's riddles because of it. There are also the facts that people often misinterpret him, making him more than upset, he prefers the company of animals to humans, and he also prefers silence and darkness. Whether or not this was done with the knowledge that these are signs of autism is unclear.
Schezo is significantly more ruthless in the Madou Monogatari series. He was not always like this, however. In his prequel story in Madou Monogatari: ARS, he specifically says he does not wish to become evil like Rune Lord and only wishes to use the dark magic he acquires to escape the labyrinth. However, after Rune Lord's defeat, it appears he is already beginning to be corrupted by it. Over a century later in Madou Monogatari 2, the corruption is significant. Schezo only seeks to gain more power, seemingly at the cost of others' lives.
In games after this, his morality varies. Ultimately he only looks out for himself and continues seeking others' power, however he does end up doing some good at times. For example, he is the protagonist of Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician and goes back on his goal of stealing power. In other games he is seen to help Arle.
Schezo also appears to be somewhat lazy in this series. He refuses to do things that he considers to be pointless and a waste of effort such as helping out Arle in Madou Monogatari (Saturn). This may explain why he chooses to steal power from others as it likely requires less effort than building up his abilities himself.
Schezo, being the Dark Wizard, is proficient in the ancient dark arts. Some of his dark spells include "Sting Shade," "Shadow Edge," and his signature "Areiado." Like Arle, he is also capable of casting elemental magic, being able to cast spells such as Fire, Ice Storm, and Diacute in Madou Monogatari: ARS. He is also able to exhibit some swordplay, as some of his chains incorporate sword slashes in his attacks.
Due to his reputation, Schezo does not have any particularly strong friendships with anyone in the cast, often seen as a threat. His relationship with Arle is the most noteworthy, but their exact relationship is unclear. While Arle has a tendency to get under his skin, they do not dislike each other enough to be enemies, sometimes sharing the goal of foiling Satan's plans. They are often depicted to be rivals, with the friendliness of this rivalry varying between meetings. There is also one moment where he gives Arle a means of escape in Madou Monogatari: The Final Test, but at the cost of his life.
Despite their reasons for wanting Arle differs, Schezo loathes Satan and is not afraid of having to deal with him to keep his hands from Arle. If Arle is brought up in any small talk between them, they will quickly break into a squabble over her. There is one scene in the Game Gear version of Madou Monogatari II, where the two team up to defeat Arle in one fell swoop. This is the only time they are seen working together in a cutscene. Schezo tends to call Satan "old man" and makes it clear that Rulue's infatuation with him is disgusting to him.
Madou Monogatari series
In the MSX version, Arle asks him what he wants with her and he responds that he wants her magic power. Arle is warped to a dungeon shortly afterwards. Arle runs into Schezo again, but she defeats him this time.
In the PC-9801 version, Arle calls Schezo a pervert before she is warped to a dungeon. Arle manages to decapitate him during her battle with him later in the game, but his head continues to fight.
In the Game Gear version, he reappears several times after Arle defeats him, more exhausted than the last. His final appearance is right before the fight with Satan, intervening his proposal, but is ultimately defeated by his hands.
In the prequel story Madou Monogatari: ARS, a 14 year old Schezo wanders away from a school excursion to follow a voice that called out to him. This leads to him getting pulled into a mirror, transporting him to a labyrinth and awakens to his succession of his Dark Wizard title.
- Tower of the Magician
He stars in Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician, where he, Witch and Tenori Zoh all set out on a dungeon crawling adventure of their own.
Puyo Puyo (1992)
Schezo is the tenth Scenario mode opponent. He tells Arle that he wants her. After seeing Arle's shocked reaction, he clarifies that he wants her power and says that he will use it to become the king of Puyo Hell.
In the English version, he is known as Devious. While Schezo's motivation was to rule Puyo Hell, Devious wants to become the prince of the Black Kingdom.
Puyo Puyo Sun
Schezo is the player's character for the Difficult course. The enlarged sun bothers him and he emerges from his cave to foil Satan's plan. Before battling Satan, he rests his sword on the sun-enlarging device and uses the heated edge to burn a bald spot into Satan's hair, resulting in them physically fighting.
Puyo Puyo ~n
Schezo attempts to take Arle's magic power while she is searching for Carbuncle with Draco, Witch, Seriri, and Chico. When Schezo is defeated, the gang continue their search, leaving him behind despite his protests.
Minna de Puyo Puyo
Schezo appears in Minna de Puyo Puyo (Puyo Pop) in the final 3 stages: Magical Tower, Dark Prince's Castle, and Trial Labyrinth.
Every time he is fought, the Puyo fields start off with the stair-like well pattern of Hard Puyo.
Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary
Schezo is warped to Primp Town along with other original Puyo characters and enters the tournament by accident. At the end of his story, he wishes that everyone would stop calling him a pervert. However, the loophole in his wish means that he can still be called similar words, just not pervert specifically.
Puyo Puyo 7
Schezo is warped to Ringo's world and ends up in Egypt. By the time Ringo and Amitie find him, he is starving and attempts to ask for their food, instead saying "I want you!" to the pair. After they take his words the wrong way, he challenges them to a Puyo battle for their food but loses. Ringo offers him food regardless but he declines out of anger of being called a pervert.
Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary
Schezo finds a cave to reside in but finds his peace constantly interrupted.
Schezo's first opponent is Klug, who enters the cave shortly after his arrival to collect crystals that amplify magical power. Schezo tells him to leave as he has already claimed the cave for himself, but Klug refuses, leading to a Puyo battle. Klug's loss causes him to cry and run out of the cave, while Schezo tries to tell him to not get worked up over a petty squabble.
Schezo's second opponent is Sig. Sig has chased a bug into the cave and rummages through Schezo's belongings to find it. When he can't find it, he accuses Schezo of having it, who challenges him to a Puyo battle to throw him out. Sig spots the bug again and leaves.
Schezo's third opponent is Risukuma, who sets off an explosion in the cave from a science experiment. Schezo finds Risukuma's appearance cute, but states that no one can interrupt his quiet time. Risukuma leaves after their battle.
Schezo's fourth opponent is Carbuncle. After Risukuma leaves, Schezo notices an unnaturally intense storm has begun outside. While he questions the cause, Carbuncle appears without Arle. Schezo wonders where she is, and says it wouldn't be good if something happens to her before he obtains her power. Schezo wants Carbuncle to lead him to Arle and the two battle. Carbuncle runs away after with Schezo in pursuit.
Schezo's fifth opponent is Arle. Schezo follows Carbuncle to Arle, who is concerned by Satan building a castle and likely causing the storm. When Schezo declares that he will punish Satan for getting on his nerves once again, Arle says she was planning to do that anyway. Both of them insist that they are stronger than the other and will take him down, and battle to prove it. When Arle loses, she still tags along as backup.
Schezo's sixth opponent is Ringo. When Schezo and Arle approach her, she immediately calls Schezo a pervert. Despite both Schezo and Arle clarifying that he only wants Arle's power, Ringo insists that it still sounds dodgy. Schezo ignores her and challenges her to a battle. She calls him a pervert when she leaves, and he curses the fact that he is stuck with the label.
Schezo's seventh opponent is Rulue, who blocks the way to Satan's castle. Schezo ignores her dramatic tone and says a simple Puyo battle will solve the problem. Rulue demands that Schezo livens things up, and so he dramatically declares that he will smite her to proceed. Arle watches from the sidelines and comments that she didn't think Schezo would get so into it. After the battle, Rulue produces a lengthy speech praising Satan and apologising for failing him. Schezo and Arle decide to leave her.
Schezo's eigth and final opponent is Satan. Schezo and Arle arrive at the castle Satan has created for Arle. While Schezo and Satan clash, Arle calls the heart-filled room tacky and declines Satan's offer of staying there with him. Schezo demands that Satan end the storm, but he refuses, leading to the final battle between them. After Satan loses, Arle too demands that he destroys the castle and ends the storm.
While Satan is upset over his loss, Schezo senses a "black shadow". This is revealed to be Ecolo, who comments on Schezo's sharp senses to himself and laughs.
- In the original MSX2 version of Madou Monogatari II, Schezo has no name and is simply called "The Mage" in-game.
- In Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche, Sir Fuzzy Logik and the team of Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright use his AI.
- In Puyo Puyo 7, Schezo is the only of 3 characters to have a unique henshin animation - his chibi and deka animations are both exclusive to the mode. However, due to this, Schezo has only one sprite, and the only difference between the first and second animations is the manner in which he tilts his sword.
