Totto is one of the main characters of Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy. A mysterious magic student who appears before Fia upon her enrollment at the Ancient Magic Academy and transfers to her class soon after, Totto often acts as the calm voice of reason among his classmates. He fancies himself a merchant and information broker and can often be found making deals with the students on campus - sometimes to the detriment of his academic record.
Biography
Personal History
Totto meets Fia when she accidentally tackles him upon leaving her classroom on her first day of school, not having seen him until it was too late. Shortly after he joins her homeroom class for unknown reasons. Totto mentions that in the past he made an important promise to somebody that he still has to fulfill but also admits he has forgotten what that promise was. The live piglets he carries around strapped to his belt have been his friends for a long time, but he seems unsure when or how he met them. Despite being a freshman, Totto is surprisingly knowledgeable about the rules and customs of the Ancient Magic Academy, a trait which sometimes comes in handy for his classmates.
Appearance
Totto is a lanky teenage boy with green eyes and long, soft, white hair that fades to green at the tips. He wears his hair in a low ponytail, though some strands aren't properly tied into it and his fringe always covers at least one of his eyes. His outfit consists of green robes, a dark green cape, baggy, white pants and short brown boots. Around his neck Totto wears a necklace of gold coins, most likely consisting of parts of his income from his business ventures around campus. His school emblem serves as a fastener on his cape. On his belt he carries two live piglets, Uru-chan and Bu-chan, whom he considers his long-time "business partners".
Personality
Compared to his classmates, Totto is usually a very calm and collected person, who doesn't easily get riled up and tends to quietly enjoy the lively conduct of his friends from the sidelines. The exception to this is whenever matters of money and business are involved; Totto is a hopeless mammonist, who will do almost anything if it could bring him monetary profit. For example, he is prone to exploiting Carbuncle's massive appetite by badgering Fia into buying more Rakkyo (a type of pickled onion, often used as curry toppings) to feed her yellow friend. As a result of this behavior Totto has a reputation as somewhat of a "shady salesman" around the school, though most students appreciate the information and item procurement services he offers them. This might be because Totto is a fundamentally jovial and pleasant person in nature and, Totto, in turn, seems to enjoy being helpful to his "customers" just as much as he enjoys being paid. Though his calm demeanor and wealth in information and goods often make him seem like a person completely in control of his life and surroundings, Totto also has a very vulnerable side he rarely shows to anyone, and harbors some deep insecurities regarding his own identity.
