Puyo Puyo!! Quest information | |
Lemres, known as 'the Comet Warlock,' is a senior student in a magic school from a neighboring town across the desert from Primp Town and a visitor who visits Primp Magic School in Puyo Puyo Fever 2. Lemres is well respected by his peers and seems to be something of a celebrity for his young prodigy status. He is admired by Klug and the object of Feli's affections.
Biography
Personal History
Lemres was born into a family of dark magicians and grew up in the same town as Klug prior to attending the elite magic school.[3] As a child, he was often forced to participate in magic duels by his family to show off their strength, but as he disliked fighting, he would try to skip attending these duels and instead lock himself in the kitchen to bake sweets.[4][5] He eventually gained the courage to pursue his own happiness after helping Prince Salde transform into a fish when they first met.[5]
Appearance
Lemres generally wears dark green and orange in all of his appearances. His hair is semi-short and a warm gray, with his hair obscuring his right eye. His eye color is unknown, as he keeps his eyes shut at all times.
In Puyo Puyo Fever 2 and Puyo Puyo 7, he wears a dark green cape with his school emblem pinned on the front, a pointed hat, boot-pants, and an orange shirt. He also carries a broom, which he can use for flight and his magic. In his Puyo Puyo 7 transformations, his younger form's outfit is a lighter shade of green, and his hat has bandages. Moons adorn his hat and cape in place of the wing emblem. In his older form, his clothes become white and his broom bears a chain.
In Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, his cape is now a long, hooded coat with pockets and now carries what appears to be a magic wand rather than a broom, with a Konpeitou-shaped tip. The emblem serves as his coat's clasp. In Puyo Puyo Tetris, the wand's tip changes into a sharp point, and his shirt line is raised to show his belt.
Personality
Lemres is overall a kind person and is a prodigy with magic who aims to bring happiness and smiles to others. He loves sweets and is eager to hand them out in an attempt to make people happy. His favorite according to his biography in Puyo Puyo Fever 2 is parfait. Although he can create sweets with his magic, he prefers to hand-make them. He takes a lot of pride in their quality and has unintentionally insulted others by implying his sweets are better when he tries theirs and gives criticism.
Although he means well, his eagerness to hand out sweets often makes him seem suspicious. While lost in the desert in Puyo Puyo Fever 2, Lemres is treated as suspicious by Sig and Amitie when he tries to ask for help and offers sweets in return. He receives similar treatment in subsequent games by many other characters. In Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, Schezo Wegey goes as far as to call Lemres a pervert, probably intended as irony as Schezo himself is often misinterpreted to be speaking like a pervert.
Lemres considers himself to be a light mage at present. Puyo Puyo!! Quest flavor text reveals that he originally comes from a noble family of dark mages but does not return home often and he values his freedom. His Puyo Puyo Fever 2 biography also states that he does not like his home. Although Lemres has attempted to leave his heritage behind, it is probable that his magic is still naturally dark. He does not seem to be opposed to dark magic in general, as he encourages Klug with his magic and is not hostile towards Schezo Wegey.
Lemres is also a mysterious character and appears to keep secrets for unknown reasons, similar to Accord. It is implied that he knows more about the relationship between Sig and Possessed Klug than he lets on. In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, it was Lemres who prompted Klug to be interested in the Tome of Sealing and conveniently has the items that will break its seal. In Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary he avoids telling Sig what he knows about his demonic hand by attempting to distract him with sweets and a Puyo Battle. In Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, Accord also implies that his age will eventually be different than what would be expected from his appearance, using magic to maintain a younger appearance. After Feli wishes for Lemres to stop aging, she says there is no real need for this as "we" have already been using magic to maintain appearances.
Although Lemres is overall a good person, some of the choices he makes are questionable. During the Possessed Klug situation in Puyo Puyo Fever 2, he forces Amitie to play Puyo with him to determine who should fix the problem. This is despite him showing up first and being the more powerful of the two. His wish in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary to turn the beach and ocean into various sweets and jelly would kill the entire ecosystem, though thankfully this event is non-canon.
Abilities
Lemres is a genius mage and proficient in cosmic magic. While his spells draw from cosmic power, his Japanese spell names are entirely in French, and are themed around cooking and baking. He is also able to create sweets from his magic, as demonstrated in the novel, Sig's Secret. Despite this, he prefers to make his own by hand. Lemres also knows how to fly on his broom, as shown in official wallpapers, Puyo Puyo Fever 2 animations, and in the novels. While it is not present in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, he is capable of summoning it with his magic. He is also capable of transformation magic, which he uses to turn Prince Salde into a fish.
While Lemres is powerful, his magic is fueled by sweets. This fact was alluded to in Puyo Puyo Fever 2, but more explicitly shown in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. If he does not consume any for an extended period of time, he eventually falls into a weak and lethargic state. He becomes very dizzy and even hallucinates at times. Salt incapacitates him when he is in this state. It can be inferred that he keeps a vast amount of confections on him as magical sustenance.
Relationships
- Feli
- Lemres is Feli's upperclassman, and looks after her well-being, which Feli often interprets as romantic gestures. Feli has very deep feelings for Lemres, which makes him uncomfortable on certain occasions. However, he still considers her a friend and treats her kindly. The two of them are often seen together.
- He seems to be concerned about her fatalistic personality and avoids her romantic gestures whenever possible, but tries to keep her safe as seen in Puyo Puyo Chronicle where he's found in Yellome's desert searching for her.
- Klug
- Klug admires Lemres greatly, and Lemres happily encourages his magic studies and cares for his well-being. However, it was Lemres who pointed Klug towards the Tome of Sealing, and therefore he was indirectly responsible for his possession.
- They also grew up in the same neighborhood and Klug refers to Lemres as his childhood playmate.[5]
- Accord
- Lemres and Accord have known each other for some amount of time before the events of Puyo Puyo Fever 2 and appear to be friends. Accord knows Lemres well enough to guess what his wish was in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary. The two of them seem to hold secrets for unknown reasons.
- Ocean Prince
- When he was younger, he met Prince Salde when both of them ran away from their homes. Salde asks him to use his magic to turn him into a fish to give him freedom, but the magic fails and does not work as intended. However, Salde is still happy with the results, and seeing him happy made Lemres realize that he wants his purpose in life to be bringing happiness to others.[5]
History
Puyo Puyo Fever 2
This is Lemres' debut game. He is the centerpiece of all WakuWaku courses as the final opponent. He also has a hand in the events of the HaraHara courses. He is a visitor to the Primp Magic School, his purpose being to deliver some items to Accord.
In Amitie's WakuWaku course, she is sent by Accord to meet Lemres, who is supposed to be visiting the magic school. However, Accord fails to describe him to her so she does not know what he looks like. In Sig's WakuWaku course, Accord tries to fix this by sending Sig to give a note to Amitie that includes a photo of him.
Lemres finds himself lost in the desert before he can reach Primp Town. Sig finds Lemres before Amitie does, and before he finds Amitie to give her the note. Lemres tries to ask Sig for help, but Sig refuses to go with him even if he wins a Puyo battle. Sig wins, but before he leaves he finally reads the note given to him. When he learns that Amitie is supposed to be meeting Lemres, he appears to heal him, but still walks away and leaves him stranded in the desert.
Amitie eventually finds Lemres but she still does not know he is the visitor she is meeting. Lemres asks her for help but his offer of sweets in return makes her suspicious of him, and the challenge of a Puyo battle makes her even more so. After Amitie wins, a hurt Lemres mentions that he just wanted to go to the school, and Amitie realizes he is the visitor Accord told her about. She drags him back to the school and apologizes. Still in pain, Lemres tells her not to worry about it.
At some point during these events, Lemres has transformed Prince Salde into a fish. Otomo tasks Raffina with finding him. She finds Lemres and Salde in the desert and demands that he change him back, which he does.
In Raffina's HaraHara course, Lemres tells her that during his painful journey to Primp Town, he has lost one of the items he was supposed to deliver; the Stone of Moon. Raffina becomes interested in the stone when he tells her it will improve her complexion, and offers to find it for him. After she takes it, now broken, from Possessed Klug, Lemres allows her to keep it. Later on he is seen with Feli, who says he is generous for doing so. He says the effect only lasts for 3 days, so he should leave before it wears off and Raffina notices.
In Amitie's HaraHara course, it seems Lemres has noticed that Klug is not himself, and makes his way to the Arca Ruins where Possessed Klug is. Amitie meets him there, and he says he is there to fix the problem of Klug getting possessed, as it was due to him losing the Stone of Moon. Instead of actually doing this, however, he forces Amitie to play Puyo with him to decide who should face Possessed Klug. After Amitie wins and frees Klug from possession, Lemres is glad that Klug is back to normal and says they should go home.
Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary
Lemres' story in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary has the following opponents:
Akuma
His first opponent is Akuma. Lemres greets him formally, acknowledging that he has joined the tournament. Akuma expresses his surprise that Lemres has joined the tournament as well, with both of them admitting that it is not like him to participate in a tournament. Lemres iterates that he joined because he sensed something would happen, which he is attracted to. Akuma says he may also have joined for the same reasons, and Lemres reassures it's not a bad feeling to have. At the end of their conversation, Lemres offers Akuma a Puyo battle, saying that if he wins, he will give Akuma five candies.
Arle & Carbuncle
His second opponent is Arle Nadja, accompanied by Carbuncle. After Lemres greets Arle, she immediately challenges him to a Puyo battle. He points out her vigor, and asks where she gets it from. She answers that Carbuncle is her first thought. Lemres asks her how she would feel in a hypothetical situation in which Carbuncle was gone, which upsets her. He apologizes and offers to give her some chocolate-coated candy if he wins the battle. Carbuncle asks for a curry-coated candy instead, which concerns Lemres when Arle tells him. He still agrees to it, and Arle cheers Carbuncle on for his request.
Klug
His third opponent is Klug. Klug immediately shows excitement when he encounters his idol. He tells Lemres that he's been studying magic books so that he can become just like him. When Lemres asks him what kind of magic he's studying, the aspiring mage says he's been looking into cosmic magic. Lemres compliments him on his choice of magic, saying it fits him, and requests that he demonstrates what he has learned. Klug quickly agrees to it.
Suketoudara
His fourth opponent is Suketoudara. He runs into the fish while he dances and compliments him on his high spirits. Suketoudara is startled by him and states that he "smells of toughness". Lemres questions him and asks if he smells sweet instead, in which Suketoudara responds that he can only catch a scent of danger from him, and that he's bitter. Lemres laments that he might not have enough candies. Suketoudara encourages him to cheer up and dance with him, but Lemres worries that he might not be good enough at dancing. Despite this, Suketoudara encourages him to try anyway.
Raffina
His fifth opponent is Raffina. Lemres greets her fondly, and expresses graditude towards being able to play with her, which Raffina says is not a mutual feeling. While Lemres takes this as her rejecting his candies, she reiterates that she's just trying to earn a title, and has no time for a "tough guy" like him. Lemres states his preference of "tough guy" over previous things she's referred to him as, such as "juicy guy" and "odd guy". Raffina then asks what Lemres would do if he wins, in which he hasn't quite thought of yet. Raffina suggests he grants her request, and Lemres agrees to it. While Lemres beats her in the following Puyo battle, it is unknown what her request was.
Ms. Accord
His sixth opponent is Accord. Lemres is surprised to see her present. Ms. Accord assures him that his formality is optional, he says he can't help it because she's too precious to him. Ms. Accord is taken aback by this statement, but Popoi reassures her that it's not out of the ordinary for him to be acting like this. Both Lemres and Ms. Accord are excited for the upcoming Puyo battle, with her musical talent mixing with his sweets being harmonious. Lemres promises to give her 100 marshmallows if he wins.
Feli
His seventh opponent is Feli. As to be expected, Feli reacts with pure excitement to seeing Lemres. She mentions their paths crossing on his seventh step, and with seven being a lucky number, they both assume it was fate for them to meet at this point. Lemres offers her his favorite kind of candy, a swirly-patterned lollipop, as a reward. Feli is surprised to see him handing out his absolute favorite. She says that his victory is inevitable, as she has never won a single battle against him at any point. Lemres considers losing to her, but she refuses to let that happen, so he agrees to play his best.
Rulue
Lemres' eighth and final opponent is Rulue. Rulue does not recognize him, so he introduces himself and offers her some candy. Rulue kindly turns it down by saying she's on a diet, which is a shame for him. She admires his strength and personality, which Lemres also returns by saying he can see just how strong she is. When she asks how he came to the conclusion, he mentions he can clearly tell by her eyes, brawn, and movement. He assumes she's a fighter, and she responds by saying her title is the Fighting Queen. Lemres displays a liking for her title and her name, and considers naming a blue-and-white lollipop after her.
After he defeats Rulue, he meets Ms. Accord once more, who congratulates him for his victory. She offers him the medal to grant his wish. He makes his wish in secret: to turn the beach into candy, with the sea turned into jelly, sand into cocoa powder with powdered sugar and skim milk, pebbles into chocolates, and shells into biscuits (sweet candies in the translated version). Ms. Accord and Popoi immediately notice that the beaches have changed, and while they correctly assume that he changed the ocean into jelly and the sand into cocoa powder, Lemres reiterates that he also added the milk and sugar to the sand as well.
Puyo Puyo 7
Lemres is warped to Suzuran, and is found by Ringo and Amitie in the shopping district next to Ringo's home. Lemres immediately offers them both some sweets. If Ringo is chosen as the player, she is shocked and calls him a suspicious stranger. Amitie says he is strange, but not hostile. Lemres offers sweets in exchange for a Puyo battle then, and although Amitie is excited for this, Ringo isn't so sure. If Amitie is chosen as the player, she immediately accepts his offer of a Puyo battle for sweets, but Ringo declines despite him offering many different options. After either scenario, he asks if they are investigating the warp over the school. He is not sure of what the cause is, but thinks that it must be intentional.
Lemres accompanies Ringo and Amitie for the next chapter, where they meet Risukuma. If Lemres is chosen as the player, he assumes Risukuma is rampaging because he is a hungry "creature", and offers him some sweets. Risukuma says he is not hungry and leaves. When Skeleton-T arrive, they claim Lemres does not know about the spirit of tea and battle him. After, Lemres asks if they are responsible for the warp, but they are not. He hears a familiar voice and everyone decides to follow it.
In the next chapter, the three of them meet Klug. If Lemres is chosen as the player, he greets Klug and asks how he has been. Klug tells him he has been studying hard to be just like him. Lemres suggests that they try out their new transformation powers they received after warping in a Puyo battle. After Klug explains how to fix the warp, Ringo and Amitie leave to find the 7 wonders. Lemres does not accompany them, presumably staying with Klug. He is not seen for the rest of the game.
Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary
Lemres' Story
Lemres tries staying away from sweets for a little while, but eventually falls into a tired state. It is shown here that his magic runs on sweets.
Sig
Lemres' first opponent is Sig. Lemres is dizzy from his lack of sweets, and follows the smell of something sweet. It is actually Sig's bug catching honey, and he gets upset with Lemres after he says he accidentally scared bugs away. When Lemres wins the ensuing Puyo battle, Sig leaves to check other trees.
Amitie
Lemres' second opponent is Amitie, who notices he is walking funny. Lemres reveals he has been avoiding sweets for a few days, training himself to be less dependent on sugar. However, he admits he may have overestimated himself and he is struggling to muster up any power. He asks Amitie if she has anything sweet, but she does not as she usually gets some from him. She suggests she help him train with a Puyo battle instead. Afterwards, Amitie asks what he is holding in his hand. He reveals it is a pebble, and says he thought it might help him feel better if he held it, which concerns Amitie.
Ringo
Lemres' third opponent is Ringo. She immediately says she doesn't want any sweets from him before he can even say anything. He tells her what is doing, and asks if he can have her apple. She refuses as it is a memento of her Grandmother, though she is still alive. She offers a Puyo battle instead and leaves after.
Dongurigaeru
Lemres' fourth opponent is Dongurigaeru, which he mistakes for a giant sweet in his sugar-deprived state. He tries to eat it while chanting "sweet", scaring it into a Puyo battle. After he comes to his senses, he questions what he just tried to do.
Klug
Lemres' fifth opponent is Klug, who has heard of his predicament. He rambles about how much he respects Lemres for his training. He claims to have brought some sugar with him as a reward, which Lemres is grateful for. When Lemres takes a lick of it, however, it is actually salt and Klug has mixed them up. The salt immediately makes him collapse. Klug attempts to bring him round with a Puyo battle, which somehow works. Afterwards, Klug apologizes and says he will get some actual sugar, but Lemres says it's okay and thanks him for the sentiment
Feli
Lemres' sixth opponent is Feli. Lemres tries to greet her, but does it in his thoughts instead of out loud; his lips moving but no sound coming out. Feli realizes she can take advantage of Lemres in the state he is in, saying they could go on a date, do anything. Lemres is concerned, and tries to tell her she shouldn't say those kinds of things, before Puyo battling. Afterwards, Feli tries to get him to eat a cake filled with salt, but Lemres manages to quickly leave.
Accord
Lemres' seventh opponent is Accord. She asks him what is wrong, and offers him a homemade cookie, telling him it is the last one. He says it is delicious, but criticizes it by saying there is too much flour and not enough butter. Popoi takes offense to this, and Lemres apologizes, claiming it is a bad habit of his, but they still Puyo battle. Lemres thanks Accord for the cookie afterwards, but his hunger has gotten worse after having a taste of something sweet. He smells something sweet and decides to follow it. Accord says she is worried about him, but starts snacking on a cream puff, which she could have given him.
Schezo
Lemres' eighth and final opponent is Schezo. Lemres has followed the smell to Schezo's cave. Somehow, he has managed to bake an entire wedding cake in his cave and plans to eat it with some tea. Lemres snaps at the sight of the cake, chanting "cake" and scaring Schezo into a Puyo battle. Lemres wins and eats the entire cake in front of him. When he comes to his senses, he thanks him for the cake, calling it delicious. Though, he then says it is not as good as his, offending Schezo. He offers to teach him how to make a perfect cake and invites himself into Schezo's cave properly, despite his objections.

Lemres' history with his family and his relationship with Ocean Prince is explored in Volume 2. It is revealed there that as a child, he was forced to participate in magic duels by his family to demonstrate their magical strength. He strongly opposed this due to his peace-loving nature, and would often run away. During one of these events, he ran off and encountered Prince Salde in his human form. Prince Salde's attitude apparently inspired Lemres to pursue his own dreams without fear of punishment, which is why Lemres happily transforms him whenever the prince requests it.[5]

Puyo Puyo Tetris
Lemres plays a minor role in Puyo Puyo Tetris, arriving during the repairs of the SS Tetra. He is aware of the events perpetrating from the 'tainted' trio of Feli, Raffina and Rulue (which may have even led to his action, due to his friendship with Feli). He asks Tee to teach him how Tetris works, and challenges Tee to a match, after being shown how it works. Lemres leads the team of Ringo, Amitie, Arle, Carbuncle and Tee, to Primp Town, intending to get them to the Magic School. This is interrupted by Feli however, whom is causing trouble for Klug. After Ringo's battle with Feli (to return her to normal), Lemres, aware of how he can keep the situation under control between the two, opts to stay with Feli and Klug, and urges the others to push on.
Puyo Puyo Chronicle
Lemres is recruited during the main story in Yellome while the party search for who could have stolen the stone.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
Lemres plays a rather major role in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. Lemres first appears on the SS Tetra after Marle is defeated and tells the others that Primp is in danger. Raffina, Witch, Feli, Draco, and Suketoudara started to act weird, battling anyone they can see. Lemres brings the group to Primp, splitting up into three groups. Lemres stays with Ringo, O, and Tee, stating that Marle, who Ecolo calls the Dimensional Parasite, is obsessed with Ringo and Tee and wants to meet her himself.
Lemres doesn't appear again until 5-5, when everyone was heading towards the Constellation Zone to meet Ex. Ess and Maguro were having a friendly pageant, and during the round of determining who the most handsome was, Klug suggested that Lemres was the most handsome.
Prior to Lemres' arrival at the SS Tetra, Marle was trying to brainwash Lemres into gathering power for her. He managed to break the spell, and found Feli after his battle with Suketoudara. Although he tried to warn her about Marle, he was too late as Feli was already corrupted.
Lemres then moved onto the Magic School where he met Klug and Sig. The two also encountered Marle, but they weren't corrupted like everyone else. He hypothesizes that Sig and Klug were protected by a mysterious latent power, potentially referring to the power of the demon stored in Sig and sealed within Klug's book.
Lemres then moves on, encountering Ecolo, who then challenges Lemres to a battle in exchange for information. After he beats Ecolo, Lemres, Satan, and Ecolo team up to fight Marle.

Warning: The following article or section contains major spoilers.
Lemres appears as a main story character in Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop as part of the game's starting playable roster. He is first encountered in Amitie's story after she, Ringo, and Arle first meet Meena, who is unable to transport them back to the real world. Lemres explains that he read about a being called the Guide of the Dream World long ago, and that under normal circumstances, she should not be able to use magic this strong. He and Ringo propose that someone must have lent their power to Meena and she has become unable to control it. To find the culprit, he, Amitie, Ringo, and Arle split up to investigate the Dream World and find anyone suspicious by Puyo battling.
Lemres' episode follows his solo investigation through the Dream World and ends with him encountering Sig and Meena.
