Tartar (previously known as Tarutaru) is a large male student at the Primp Town Magic School. Despite this, he is only present in Puyo Puyo Fever and Puyo Puyo Fever 2. Ms. Accord mentions his absence in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary.

Biography

Appearance

Tartar is very large compared to his peers, and ranks up there with Baldanders as among the largest characters. He wears a blue cap, blue jacket with a white undershirt, and blue pants. Beneath his cap, he is bald, as seen when he loses a match in Puyo Puyo Fever. He notably wears a tie with his school emblem on it, which smacks him in the face when he takes damage in Puyo Puyo Fever. His eyes are dots on his head, and his mouth cannot be seen. Oftentimes, his hands do not have detailed fingers, though on occasion they do.

Personality

He is, for the most part, a gentle soul. Much like Lidelle, he is big on nature, and pretty easy going much like Sig. However, he is very fierce to people he believes are in the way of his love life or have hurt him, and he is not afraid to play Puyo even against his crush. He can be very naive, especially in regards to love.

Abilities

Tartar is a very physically powerful student, much like Raffina, though whether or not his magic is poor is unknown. His spells tend to involve the Earth, and his strongest attacks are powerful natural disasters. In Puyo Puyo Fever, he uses Stamp, Stream, Gust, Earthquake, and Maelstrom. Puyo Puyo Fever 2 has him use Banging and Fault.

Relationships

Raffina

Raffina is the woman Tartar loves the most. To this end, he desires to spend time with her for school related issues, although she appears to not return the sentiment. Instead, she frequently grows frustrated with him like anybody else.

History

Puyo Puyo Fever

Tartar's first appearance is in the RunRun course, where he serves as Amitie's second opponent while the player learns the rules of Fever mode. Later, he encounters Raffina during the HaraHara course, as her fourth opponent. Due to the rest of the students seeking out Ms. Accord's flying cane, he is tending to the school himself, and insists upon Raffina staying with him. He appears alongside his classmates at the end of the HaraHara course.

Puyo Puyo Fever 2

In Puyo Puyo Fever 2, Tartar returns for the RunRun course when the player selects Raffina's story, and similarly acts as a practice opponent. Afterwards, he appears in Stage 2 of Amitie's WakuWaku course. Amitie greets him and mentions that it's been a while since they've changed classes, and Tartar discusses Raffina and how she sits behind him in class. When he mentions how Raffina often stares at him, Amitie suggests that it may be due to trying to see the blackboard past him, but Tartar interprets it as Raffina possibly having a crush on him. He comes across Raffina again in her HaraHara course, during Stage 2. He approaches her, telling her that the two of them share day duties in class the day after tomorrow and requesting that they practice giving orders. Raffina gets exasperated and tells him that she doesn't have the time, but he insists that she stay and practice regardless. He makes one final appearance in Sig's HaraHara course. There, he recognizes Raffina's scent (Sig was attending to Ocean Prince, whom had encountered Raffina during the latter's WakuWaku Course) and challenges Sig.
