Dark Witch is a villainous version of Witch, said to be her if she were corrupted with too much power. Her appearance in Puyo Puyo!! Quest may be a separate person from earlier games.

Biography

Appearance

Dark Witch is mostly identical to the true Witch, but has purple eyes and clothes instead of blue eyes and blue clothes. In Puyo Puyo!! Quest, her eyes instead have a magenta hue. She gains a cape and her bow and ribbon become longer. Her dress also gains an extra frill.

History

Comet Summoner

She appears as the final boss of the game in Witch's dream. Although she does not speak, Witch awakens from the dream and realizes that Dark Witch must have been a version of herself from the future. She takes Dark Witch's appearance as a reminder that she must make her dreams happen through hard work and not by taking shortcuts.

Puyo Puyo Box

She is a potential opponent in Scramble mode. She uses Puyo Puyo rule.

Puyo Puyo!! Quest

On January 1, 2026, a character named Dark Witch was added to Puyo Puyo!! Quest as a ★7 card. It is unclear whether she is the same entity as the Dark Witch from Comet Summoner or Puyo Puyo Box, however they all feature purple as their primary color. Additionally, her Active Skill name, Curtain of Meteor (カーテンオブメテオ), could be a reference to the screen-covering barrage of comets she fires during her boss fight in Comet Summoner. This Dark Witch is said to hate obstacles that get in her way, and insists to others that she doesn't take things seriously.

Trivia

• According to Ken'ichi Ina, she was originally planned to be in Puyo Puyo~n, where she would appear as an opponent in Witch’s stage instead of Witch herself after the first playthrough. The idea was scrapped because the developers thought that would be too serious.
