Otomo, also known as Butler, is Prince Salde's butler so to speak. He spends most of Puyo Puyo Fever 2 chasing after Ocean Prince (to whom he has taken a liking) and informs the player of different things during the game.

Biography

Appearance

Otomo is a tall, timid-looking young man with short messy blond hair. He wears a green tunic with a red cape and yellow gloves, and carries a small sword in a sheath on his belt, although he is only seen using it in Puyo Puyo!! Quest. Notably, his eyes are small and white, in contrast to the other humanoid characters in the series.

Personality

Not much is known of Otomo's personality, except that he is very timid and polite. He is very passionate about protecting the Ocean Prince, and never gives up searching for him, no matter how many times the prince escapes.

Abilities

He does not participate in Puyo battles on his own, but he does assist Ocean Prince in 15th, using his sword in the counter attack animation.

Relationships

Ocean Prince: As his butler, Otomo is fiercely loyal to the Ocean Prince, and is devoted to protecting him. This extends to gameplay, where in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, he is the one taking damage for the prince. He is also quite fond of the prince on a personal level, often gushing about how cute he is and keeping an album full of pictures of the prince.

History

Puyo Puyo Fever 2

He only makes an appearance in Raffina's WakuWaku course, where he tasks her with finding the runaway Ocean Prince. At the end of the course, he gives her the Shellfish of Thinking as payment. He can also occasionally be found in the town where you can speak to him.

Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary

Otomo appears during Ocean Prince's route in the story mode. He is pursuing Ocean Prince to bring him back to the castle after he placed a sea cucumber in Otomo's bed, made him drink salt water, and covered his head in squid ink, among other various other pranks. At the end of this route, Otomo hears the prince's complaints about the stifling and boring royal lifestyle, leading Otomo to say that he will no longer scold the prince harshly, but will instead join him in his journey for freedom. However, Ocean Prince has already left by the time Otomo has made this declaration.

Trivia

His name is derived from the Japanese word お供 (otomo) which means an "attendant" or a "companion".
