Al Kamone

Al Kamone (アル・カモネ Aru Kamone, rendered as アル=カモネ before JUMP HERO Gaiden 3) is an antagonist introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Al is a penguin mobster hell-bent on taking over the Penguin Kingdom, using his sunglass-wearing goons to help him. He appears in the first chapter attempting to make away with Ivan as hostage, and he shows up later on Park Island disguised as a magician in order to capture him again, and finally on Flower Island with a massive army of thugs, along with the two other major villains. He makes another appearance in JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 with the same intentions as before, though this time alone. He also appears as the antagonist of GO! GO! IVAN, capturing all the penguins in the kingdom and acting as the final boss inside the castle stage.

Trivia

  • Al's name is derived from the famous American Prohibition-era gangster Al Capone.
    • "Kamone" is a possibly a portmanteau of "Capone" (カポネ) and kamo (カモ, a Japanese word to refer to ducks, a bird that commonly spends time in or around water, similarly to penguins), or "Capone" and "c'mon" (カモン kamon).

Billy de Babine, formerly known as Billydo ba Bean prior to JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 Tobikiri Adventure, is the main protagonist of the JUMP HERO series. Billy is a hotheaded 16-year-old boy who possesses an athletic passion for jumping, a skill he's been training since childhood. True to his punk-like appearance, he's incredibly brash and courageous, sometimes to a fault as he can get carried away trying to get rid of those who stand in his way. Billy is also rather oblivious to the feelings of his childhood friend Margarita Linda, as he's forgotten many of the times they've spent together, and doesn't seem to notice her feelings for him. He and Linda frequently quarrel, and she often has to keep him from doing something reckless or scold him due to his rudeness. In spite of all this, Billy has a strong sense of justice and cares a lot for his friends, even if he doesn't always show it. His main goal in life is to become the world's best jumper, the "Jump Hero".

One of Billy's most notable traits is that he is the older twin brother of Barry de Babine (better known by his pseudonym Billy Burn), though it seems the two do not interact much. He's also the son of Borry de Babine. Billy makes a playable appearance in Restaurant King as one of the six main protagonists, and also has a cameo in Arle Manyuuki, playing the role of Japanese historical military commander Minamoto no Yoshitsune.

Borry de Babine

Borry de Babine (ボリー・ド・バビーン Borī do babīn), formerly known as Billydo ba Bone (ビリード・バ・ボーン Birīdo ba bōn) prior to JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 Tobikiri Adventure, is the widower of Helen de Babine, and father of Billy and Barry. In JUMP HERO Gaiden, he takes on the moniker of Masked Satan Tsu (マスクド・サタン通 Masukudo satan-tsū) and serves as the game's central antagonist, showing up several times throughout the game and being subsequently challenged. He also makes an cameo appearance in Arle Manyuuki, playing the role of Ashiya Dōman, an onmyōji who lived in the Heian period of Japanese history.

Captain Honey is a character in the JUMP HERO series, first appearing in JUMP HERO Gaiden. She is the righteous captain of a pirate's guild, and only loots from evil pirates, being a chivalrous robber of sorts. Billy and his friends find her cornered by her rival Captain Lucky and his crew on Lucky's island hideout, and manage to rescue her, adding her to their team. In JUMP HERO Gaiden 3, she takes her friends on a holiday cruise, and drops Billy, Linda, and Ivan at Port Town (where they meet her sister, Sugar) while she takes the rest of their friends home, and reappears much later in the story. Interestingly, unlike most of the human cast, Honey has pointed ears, a trait shared with Sharon.

Captain Lucky

Captain Lucky (ラッキー船長 Rakkī senchō) is an antagonist introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Lucky is an effeminate pirate and the enemy of Captain Honey. He runs across Billy's gang after they leave Haniwa Island and taunts them, causing them to chase after him and raid his island hideout, along with rescuing Captain Honey, who had been cornered by him and his men. He shows up later for a rematch after Billy's team leaves Park Island, and then again for the final time on Flower Island with a massive crew, along with the other major antagonists and their respective hordes of minions. He later makes an appearance in JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 around the climax of the game, this time capturing Billy and his friends.

Francesca Saito is a character introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Created by the Professor to protect Metropolis Island from the terror of robot supervillain Odoroon, Francesca is a bulky and powerful robot with a virtuous and serious (albeit inflexible) personality. Despite his strength, his speed is hampered by his heavy weaponry, and he is sometimes considered a piece of junk. He has a battery built into him that allows him to operate for a day on a one-hour charge. Billy and his friends first encounter him attempting to stop the robot supervillain Odoroon from taking over Metropolis Island, and they quickly join to help him. After the battle, he is sent away with Billy to act as a robot representative in the Jump Hero Tournament. In battle, Francesca can use the attacks Powerful Tackle, Shoulder Missile, and Spark Rush, all of which do considerable damage compared to other characters. He has an appearance in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Helen de Babine

Helen de Babine (ヘレン・ド・バビーン Heren do babīn) is the deceased wife and mother of Borry and his children Billy and Barry. All that is known about her is that she died of an illness sometime in the family's life.

Intermediate Title People

The intermediate title people (中間タイトルの人 Chūkan taitoru no hito) are characters who debuted in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Their role, as their name implies, is to show the titles found at the beginning of each chapter, usually in a comedic manner. How they do this varies from chapter to chapter.

Jyaboon

Jyaboon (ジャブーン Jabūn) is the protagonist of the very first JUMP HERO game on Disc Station #29 on MSX2, as well as its sequel, JUMP HERO II: Life is Jyaboon on Disc Station #32. He is a rather eccentric and flamboyant long-nosed man in tights (usually white, but also red on occasion), usually making grandiose poses. Sometimes, he's accompanied by (or competing against) clones of himself, usually in differing colors like black or yellow. Jyaboon also starred in several spinoff games, and even had a role as an enemy in the Kerosuke series of games.

Margarita Linda is a character who first appeared in JUMP HERO for PC-98, and is a central character in the series. Linda is the childhood friend of protagonist Billy, and as such usually accompanies him on his adventures. She's generally amiable and polite, but she can be hard-headed at times and enjoys being spoiled, tending to become angry when she doesn't get what she wants. She often has to put Billy in his place whenever his rougher side comes out, and fights with him frequently. It's implied that Linda has a crush on Billy, which leads her to try to indirectly appeal to him (as well as worry about not being noticed). She's also prone to jealousy towards others that show affection or desire towards him, such as Pipiruma. She has a pair of dragon-like wings on her back that allow her to fly for short periods of time, and make her appearance reminiscent of Draco Centauros.

Linda makes a cameo appearance in Arle Manyuuki, playing the role of Taira no Tokuko, the daughter of Japanese military leader Taira no Kiyomori and empress-consort of Emperor Takakura. She also appears in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Mrs. Eve

See Mrs. Eve.

Odoroon

Odoroon (オドルゥーン Odoruūn) is an antagonist introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Odoroon is a robotic supervillain who aims to conquer Metropolis Island with his mechanical army. The heroic robot Francesca Saito notices his plot and attempts to stop him (and successfully does thanks to help from Billy and his friends), causing him to flee and show up again on Thunder Island, attempting to take over one of the island's power plants. Like the other antagonists, he makes one last attempt to finish off the heroes on Flower Island, along with an even bigger robot army.

Trivia

  • All of Odoroon's dialogue is rendered in katakana, which often done to indicate robotic speech in Japanese (similar to how robotic speech in English is often written in all capitals).

He is usually accompanied by his small rabbit friend, Pyonkopinko. Billy and his friends first meet him on Sushi Island, where he is found submerged in a lake with only his turban above the water. His attacks consist of playing a flute tune, launching a missile from his turban, and summoning a giant energy fist. He has a cameo in Arle Manyuuki, playing the role of Abe no Seimei, a Heian onmyōji and a legendary character in Japanese folklore. He also has an appearance in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Pietro is a character introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 Tobikiri Adventure. A young man dressed head-to-toe like a jester, he hails from Pirate Island and is its most skilled puppeteer (being formally known as Number One Puppeteer). Pietro is well-mannered and courtly (often calling himself the "Masked Gentleman Doll Master") and is idolized by the elderly women of Port Town, but he conversely is not popular among its youth. He is deeply infatuated with childhood friend and fellow puppeteer Sugar (going so far as to believe he and her are destined to be married), and frequently follows her around, much to her annoyance and disgust. Much like Sugar, he carries around a doll of his own named Silky (シルキー Shirukī), but lacks any ventriloquism skills to make her talk. Alongside his puppet mastery, Pietro is a cosplay fanatic and great with disguises, and is also very knowledgeable about angels.

Pipiruma Paparuma is a character who first appears in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Pipiruma is a runaway girl with a sassy attitude and an optimist who enjoys even the most dangerous of situations. She also has an affinity for kaiju, and can both summon them and understand what they say (notably, towards the end of the game, she can convince one of them to join the player's team). When Billy's team first encounters her on Kaiju Island, she is initially hostile towards them and lets all the monsters at the zoo loose, but she soon comes to her senses and helps fix the mess after they save her. She then joins them on their journey, and develops a liking towards Billy, often hugging him (much to the envy of Linda). Her attacks, while not flashy, are able to attack at long ranges (hitting enemies as far as three squares away). She also appears in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Trivia

  • Pipiruma's design and name were likely inspired by the magical-girl anime franchise Magical Princess Minky Momo, as both Momo (the protagonist of the franchise) and Pipiruma share pink, similarly-styled haircuts (long hair with rectangular bangs, and fluffs at the bottom) and have outfits that are highly feminine. Furthermore, "pipiruma" is one of the magic words that Momo recites (along with waving her magic wand) in order to change her appearance (the full phrase is "Pipiruma pipiruma puririnpa papareho papareho doriminpa").

Ivan Pentrovich Guinovski, often referred to as simply Prince Ivan or "Prince" to his friends, is a character who debuted in JUMP HERO for PC-98, and is one of the series' central characters. He is a chubby blue penguin on ice skates and the 5-year-old prince of the Penguin Kingdom. He's generally cheerful and carefree, but at times can be rather pompous due to his princely status. He also sometimes takes what others say too seriously, and can easily be taken for granted. He's close friends with Billy and Linda, and has great trust in them. His father is King Ivan II and his mother is Mrs. Eve. Ivan has three spinoff games to his name, where he serves as the protagonist, those being GO! GO! IVAN, RUN! RUN! IVAN, and BANG! BANG! IVAN. He makes a cameo in Arle Manyuuki, playing the role of Fujiwara no Michinaga, a powerful Japanese statesman from the Heian period, and also shows up in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Pyonkopinko

Pyonkopinko (ぴょんこぴんこ Pyonko pinko) is a character introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden. Pyonko is a cute rabbit who seems to be friends with the Old Man from Third Street, with both of them living together on Sushi Island. He has a strange dislike of being called a rabbit, despite being one. As to be expected from his small stature, he doesn't hold much offensive power (or any at all, as he is unable to attack), but is also the only party member in the game who can heal others, making him a valuable asset. His appearance greatly resembles that of Carbuncle. Pyonko makes an appearance in Billy's ending in Restaurant King.

Sharon

Sharon (シャロン Sharon) is a character introduced in JUMP HERO Gaiden 3. She is a waitress at the tavern in Port Town, and while she doesn't accompany Billy and his friends, she often gives out helpful information. Interestingly, like Captain Honey, she possesses a pair of pointy ears.

Sugar is a character who first appears in JUMP HERO Gaiden 3 Tobikiri Adventure. She is the 17-year-old daughter of a puppeteer, and the younger sister of Captain Honey. A skilled ventriloquist from Pirate Island (and also considered its Number 2 Puppeteer, only losing to fellow puppeteer Pietro), she herself aspires to be a pirate, which led her to dressing in a sailor outfit and creating Oligo, a scary pirate doll who often says rude things. However, despite this enthusiasm for buccaneering, her older sister doesn't allow her to become a true pirate. Although kind and seemingly an ordinary girl, it is rumored that this is merely a face she puts on while in public. She is the object of Pietro's affection, and usually expresses her displeasure towards his creepy behavior. Sugar and Oligo have a major role in Restaurant King, acting as hosts of the game.
