List of Puyo Puyo Chronicle Enemies

The RPG mode in Puyo Puyo Chronicle has different types of enemies that can be encountered, each having their own characteristics. These enemies can also be recruited into your party to use during RPG mode and skill battle.

Overview

Enemies are visible in the overworld and will try to ambush the player if caught in their line of sight. Depending on how the player encounters the enemy, it will determine who strikes first in battle. If the player ambushes an enemy from behind they will strike first, however if the enemy ambushes from behind they will strike first. Otherwise it's based on who's faster. Similar to the Mother series, if the player is at a high enough level, instead of entering battle they will instantly kill weaker enemies. In addition, enemies begin to flee from you.

Enemies are divided by different types, each type having their own characteristics, such as having different skills that effects themselves or their enemies. Said types are also further categorized by their color, meaning they're weak and strong against certain colors in a similar vein to how colors are handled in Puyo Puyo!! Quest.

Enemies can be recruited under certain circumstances. Compared to the main 24 characters + 5 Skill Battle exclusives, they have less voice clips and animations, but are otherwise as complete of playable characters as any other.

A slime monster with ribbon-like ears. They're the standard enemy of the game.

Etymology
- Possibly a twist on the English word “rabbit” (ラビット ; rabitto) due to the fact that its tags look like rabbit ears and that it hops.
- Purammit: A combination of the English word “Pure” (ピュア ; pyua) and "Rammit".

Wheeloo

Etymology
- Fortle: A combination of the English words "fort" and "turtle".
- Forturion: A smaller, robotic-looking counterpart to Fortle. A combination of the English word "fort" and the robotic ending "-rion", or possibly "centurion".
- Turtster: A turtle resembling a nest that carries around various eggs. A combination of the Japanese word for "turtle", カメ, and possibly the English word "nest" (ネスト) or "Easter" (イースター). The English name is a combination of "turtle" and "Easter".

Hamushter

A large hamster with a toadstool-cap hat. The Hamushter? exchanges this mushroom cap for a spotted party hat.

Etymology: The Japanese name swaps the positions of the last two sounds in ハムスター. The English name is a combination of the words "hamster" and "mushroom".

- Combination of “capybara” (カピバラ ; kapibara) + “stone statue” (石像 ; sekizou), resulting in a combination of "capybara" and "gargoyle" in English.

Etymology: Combination of the English word “mage” (メイジ ; meiji) with the feminine suffix “chan”. The “-y” ending in English is to symbolize the cute suffix.

An armor-suit monster.

Etymology
- The Japanese word 甲冑 (kacchuu) means “armor and helmet”. The color names are abbreviated or merged with “kacchuu” – the red armor, for instance, is called アカッチュー (Akacchuu), which is a combination of red (Aka) and “kacchuu”. Since they both share “ka”, it isn’t repeated twice. The green armor is called ミドカッチュー (Midokacchuu), which is a combination of green (Midori) and “kacchuu”, but dropping the “ri” of the “midori”. To mimic this in English the color words are merged with “armor”.
- "Ritter" is German for "knight".

Mimic

A chest monster. Disguises as unopened treasure chest in the overworld and map, and launches a surprise attack when Arle attempts to open it.

Cactup

Variant:

Cactup (サボタン)

A walking cactus creature. Disguises as normal cacti in the overworld with no enemy markers on the map, and pops out of the ground and chases Arle when she approaches.

Etymology: Combination of the Japanese word for cactus (さぼてん ; saboten) and either the cutesy suffix “-tan” or possibly the English word “button” (ボタン ; botan) since they pop up out of the ground and chase after you. The English translation is a combination of “cactus” and “up”.
