Ice Puyo (こおぷよ Koo puyo) is an unused mode that appears in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary. It is unavailable to access in regular gameplay, and can only be accessed via the use of cheat codes. In other words, the mode has been dummied out.
Gameplay
Ice Puyo is similar to the Ice Blocks mode, while also sharing similarities with Puyo Puyo Tsu. One difference between Ice Puyo and Ice Blocks that all the normal Puyos are instead replaced by Ice Puyos. Another difference is that normal nuisance Puyos drop instead of Ice Puyos. You can set the amount of turns it takes for the Ice Puyos to melt from between 1 and 10. This mode also includes Quick Drop, like Transformation mode.
Trivia
- Ice Puyo is the first mode to go completely unused in the Puyo Puyo series.
- Just like Fever mode, the colors of Puyos are in order from Red to Purple. The animation of Puyos hitting the ground (on collision with Puyos/Ground) is also the same as Fever.
- In the Wii version, 4-Player contains a bug where upcoming Puyos are displayed the same as they are in 2-Player. This leads to Player 1 and Player 3's previews being stacked on top of each other. The same is true for Player 2 and Player 4.
- The AI strategy for Ice Puyo is to immediately stack the right side of their board with Puyos. This may hint at the AI for the mode being unfinished.
