Mega Puyo (でかぷよ, Deka Puyo) is a game mode that appears in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, Puyo Puyo Chronicle, and Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop. It appears as an unlockable mode in Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, and one of the returning modes in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary.
Gameplay
The player utilizes a special type of giant Puyo in this game. As a side effect, the board is effectively smaller, with a size of 3 x 7 instead of 6 x 13 like with normal Puyo Puyo. To compensate, connecting three Puyo counts as a chain instead of four or more like normally. Offsetting is based on Fever rules, however no dropsets are utilized.
In Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, the same rules apply, the only addition being the option to utilize Quick Drop. It also introduces a variant called Mega Puyo Rush, based on the Mega Transformation from Puyo Puyo 7.
