Appearances | Puyo Puyo Fever 2 Puyo Puyo!! Quest |
The Arca Ruins (アルカ遺跡 Aruka iseki) are a location that debuted in Puyo Puyo Fever 2 as the final location in all HaraHara routes. An entrance lies on the outskirts of Primp Town, between Miru Coast and the Pitto Dunes. While it has rarely appeared again following its debut game, it seems to have important ties to Possessed Klug and the other Sig.
Appearance
The ruins walls are primarily made of stone, with runes and Puyo shapes carved into them. They are described to be very large, roughly the same size as Primp Town.
In Sig's Secret, four rooms of these ruins are explored, each connected by long hallways and guarded by large, enchanted Nuisance Puyo. The final room contained a box covered in carvings at its center.
History
The Arca Ruins first appeared in Puyo Puyo Fever 2 as the final location in Amitie, Raffina, and Sig's HaraHara routes where they encounter and defeat Possessed Klug and take away the unsealing items one by one.
The ruins either go unnamed, or are called the "Ruins of the Seal" according to local folklore in some subsequent appearances. During Sig's Secret, the other Sig attempts to unseal the secret hidden within the Ruins of the Seal, a location which is strikingly similar to the Arca Ruins. Unnamed ruins appear again during "A Primp Dream" chapter in Puyo Puyo Tetris, and this is where Sig chooses to hide from Schezo.
Its most prominent named appearances are "Amitie and Lidelle's Primp Tour" and Puyo Puyo!! Quest. In the former, the two girls encounter Klug who is possessed by the Crimson Spirit mid-conversation and tells them to turn back. It appears again during Puyo Puyo!! Quest's Fever World chapter, which takes place shortly after the events of Puyo Puyo Fever 2's main story.
Background
The Arca Ruins were home to a somewhat advanced ancient civilization long before Primp existed, and even longer before Primp became a town. There are no remains of the people of Arca in the ruins, but there is evidence of a tsunami that may have wiped them out or caused them to flee.[1]

Trivia
- "Arca" is likely from the Japanese あるか for "Is something there?" because of how little there is known about this civilization.
- It might also be derived from the Latin arcanum, which means "mystery".
