Paprisus are a species of mischievous creatures introduced in Puyo Puyo!! Quest that live in the forests of Pwurp Island. As their name suggests, they are squirrel-like creatures that always wear colored headgear shaped after Paprikas, of which are said to be well made. While they appear carefree, they are actually very hardworking. There are 6 color variants; Red, blue, green, yellow, purple, and golden. Most Paprisus are very competitive and prideful of their color, and will defend their color Paprisus as the most superior and well-behaved ones. They also have rivalries with Paprisus of other colors, though some are shown to be friends with differently-colored Paprisus. They like eating acorns, snacks, and sweets. In Puyo Puyo!! Quest, they are commonly used as enemies during Quests. They recieve an alternate costume for almost every collaboration in the game. They have become a de facto mascot for Puyo Puyo!! Quest, with the red variants appearing the most frequently.

A Red Paprisu, simply titled Paprisu, appears as a hidden playable character in Puyo Puyo Champions' DLC. It can be selected by inputting a button combination on the character select screen that varies depending on the platform.

Red Paprisu

Red Paprisu (あかいパプリス, Akaipapurisu) are Paprisus that wear red headgear and obsess over the color red. They are said to be spontaneous and somewhat selfish. They view the Blue Paprisus as intense rivals, even calling them mean while pretending to not be mischievous themsleves, and they think of the color blue as tacky. They are confident in their tree-climbing abilities. They are the most commonly depicted Paprisu color and have become a sort of representative for all Paprisus.

Blue Paprisu

Blue Paprisu (あおいパプリス, Aoipapurisu) are Paprisus that wear blue headgear and obsess over the color blue. They are said to be passionate and social. They view the Green Paprisus as intense rivals, even calling them mean while pretending to not be mischievous themsleves, and they think of the color green as tacky. They are confident in their running and tree-climbing abilities.

Green Paprisu (みどりパプリス, Midoripapurisu) are Paprisus that wear green headgear and obsess over the color green. They are said to enjoy making others laugh. They view the Red Paprisus as intense rivals, even calling them mean while pretending to not be mischievous themsleves, and they think of the color red as tacky.

Yellow Paprisu

Yellow Paprisu (きいろパプリス, Kiiropapurisu) are Paprisus that wear yellow headgear and obsess over the color yellow. They are said to be straightforward and a bit selfish. They have a mutual rivalry with Purple Paprisus and call them mean, denying their own mischievous nature. They believe the color purple to be tacky.

Purple Paprisu (むらさきパプリス, Murasakipapurisu) are Paprisus that wear purple headgear and obsess over the color purple. They are shown to be a little arrogant. They have a mutual rivalry with Yellow Paprisus and call them mean, denying their own mischievous nature. They believe the color yellow to be tacky.

Golden Paprisu

Golden Paprisu (きんぴかパプリス, Kinpikapapurisu) are Paprisus decked in shining gold headgear. While their cards in Puyo Puyo!! Quest come in the 5 standard colors, they insist that they aren't like the other colored Paprisus, believing that they are inferior and should respect Gold Paprisus. They insist that they are busy due to their popularity.

Trivia

In Puyo Puyo!! Quest, Paprisus are fully capable of speech and one even gets offended at the notion that they aren't. Despite this, the Paprisu in Puyo Puyo Champions only communicates by going "Papu".
The rivalries between colored Paprisus are a reference to color strengths and weaknesses in Puyo Puyo!! Quest; Red cards are weak to blue attacks, blue cards are weak to green attacks, green cards are weak to red attacks, and yellow and purple cards are weak to each other's attacks.
Paprisus have the most alternate costumes in Puyo Puyo!! Quest by far, even surpassing popular mainline characters like Arle.
- This is due to the frequency of collaborations in the game, as well as the tendency for all 5 Paprisus to recieve an alternate costume for each collab.
Paprisu is the only character in Puyo Puyo Champions originally from Puyo Puyo!! Quest to have an original dropset.
Paprisu's AI is on par with several Final Bosses like Satan, Carbuncle, Rafisol, etc. which might stem from the status of being a secret character.
Paprisu is the only character from Puyo Puyo!! Quest be voiced in a Puyo Puyo game, but not in Puyo Puyo!! Quest itself.
Although they are a different species, Veggie Thieves bear a notably similar appearance to Paprisus.
Due to his dialogue and alternate costumes, the Heavenly Knight Mars is often associated with Paprisu.
Sparkrisu, Mysterisu, and Tambourisu were the winners of a special Paprisu design contest.^[1]
