Hilda Eldur Friede Wacht Mappela Crowlas

The Accursed Knights (呪騎士) are a series of 6 characters introduced in Puyo Puyo!! Quest. The 6th member, the Accursed King Crowlas, was introduced later as part of the game's 7.5th Anniversary. They are an order of knights hailing from an unnamed kingdom, who each suffer a curse due to the weapons that they wield. They often travel as a group in search of a way to lift their curses under Crowlas' orders, to little avail. Their travels together have provided them with great knowledge of each other's curses, and they work well as a team. They are all highly respected by the people of their kingdom.

Hilda Otsukimi Knight Hilda Accursed Crowknight Hilda

Hilda is a knight who wields the Blade of Mirth, inflicting her with the Curse of Perpetual Ever-Impending Laughter, which causes her to laugh uncontrollably. As a result, she has difficulty completing her sentences and experiences stomach pains. With her curse, she has become a sort of 'life counselor' to the other knights, being able to laugh off their worries. Before she was cursed, she was a serious person, and while her curse has caused her personality to relax somewhat she remains sober underneath it. During especially dire situations, the effects of her curse seem to subside.

Eldur is a knight who wields the Axe of Fury, inflicting him with the Curse of Delayed Speech, which forces him to take time before he can begin speaking. He had always been a quiet person, so the practical effect of the curse on him has been minor. However, his quiet disposition and his intimidating gaze together lead to misunderstandings, causing people to assume he's angry or scowling. His disconcerting effect on others is his main source of stress. He believes that his curse is preferrable to that of the other knights.

Friede Year of the Rabbit Friede Accursed Crowknight Friede

Friede is a knight who wields the Broadsword of Despair, inflicting him with the Curse of Attaching 'Pyon★' to the End of Every Sentence. He's described as a 'lady's man', preoccupied with his own popularity among women and attempts to flirt with almost any woman he meets. He believes his curse ruins his self-perceived 'popular' image, so he's highly motivated to lift it- even willing to go off on his own and attempt to break it through unconventional means. After some self reflection, he's found himself being able to appreciate his curse, claiming that, lately, ending one's sentences with a similar sound is 'in fashion' and contemplating walking down 'the path of cuteness'.

Trivia

  • 'Pyon' is the Japanese onomatopoeic word for the sound of a rabbit hopping, sometimes translated into English as 'boing'.
  • Friede makes 'pyon' noises in his sleep.
  • Friede is able to summon and communicate with the rabbits on Pwurp Island. He calls them the 'Pyonpyon Association'.

Wacht Pitch-black Wacht Accursed Crowknight Wacht

Wacht is a knight who wields the Javelin of Terror, inflicting him with the Curse of Insect Noises Ringing in the Ears Whenever Sleepiness Approaches, which renders him unable to willingly fall asleep. He's typically in a state of delirium as a result, muttering to himself and complaining about his lack of rest. Once his limits are pushed far enough, he gains a 'second wind' which gives him a burst of energy. His specialty seems to be acting as a night-guard, and his ever-constant presence at his king's side has earned him trust from the citizens of the kingdom. He is described as having a volatile temper which is impossible to quell, and has little patience for those around him. His pillow is specially designed to help one sleep, but it's useless for him in that department, so he just uses it as a shield.

Pitch-Black Wacht

Featured in Dreams of the Sleeping Lion, Pitch-Black Wacht is a version of Wacht that cannot sleep at all, and has managed to unlock hidden and unparalleled power through sleep deprivation. Upon being knocked out in this condition, he regains his senses, and after is seemingly unable to recall anything that occurred while he was in this state.

Trivia

  • The insect by Wacht's side resembles a bagworm, a type of moth. It goes through metamorphosis as his base card rarities increase.
  • Wacht is likely jealous of people who are able to get rest, as he threatens to hit Eldur for sleeping in front of him.
  • Hilda's laughter keeps him awake.
  • He has a personal record of counting up to 7000 sheep trying to sleep.

Mappela is a knight who wields the Hammer of Ruin, inflicting her with the Curse of Oozing Hands, which causes her to drop things and trip constantly. She is very outgoing, but is known for being clumsy due to her curse. This clumsiness causes opponents to wrongfully underestimate her combat abilities. The ooze from her hands and feet can spread onto other objects and the area around her, which can cause others to trip as well.

Trivia

  • Despite being called a hammer, Mappela's weapon more closely resembles that of a mace.
  • According to Friede, Mappela can cook and her best dish is natto, a Japanese dish that is notoriously slimy.

Crowlas ver. Jujutsu High Spotlight Crowlas Crowlas Santa Crowlas

Crowlas is the reigning monarch of the unnamed kingdom from which the Accursed Knights originate. He wields the Cane of Arrogance, inflicting him with the Curse of Perceiving Others as Crows, which causes him to see others as crows. He is an accomplished king and a beloved ruler. Contrary to his knights, Crowlas actually embraces his curse, which is due to his immense love of crows. He wishes to create a Crow Kingdom, but due to a caveat of his curse - being that other cursed individuals appear as their normal selves, to his annoyance - he cannot accomplish this until he finds a method to break the curses of his knights. In the hopes of achieving this dream, he spends a great deal of time researching curses. He is spontaneous and has a habit of talking exclusively and excessively about crows. He is shown to look out for his knights, and is contented if they are enjoying themselves, even on missions where they are unsuccessful. He takes great pride in their skills and displays lots of affection towards them. However, he also has a mischevious side to him, and often tries to evade the watch of his knights and escape from his castle. The Accursed Knights often have to go on retainment duty to ensure he's performing his royal duties.

Trivia

  • Crowlas' release was foreshadowed in the Once-per-day Quest, The Legend of the Accursed Rabbit, where he is mentioned only as 'His Majesty'.
  • Crowlas is able to use illusion magic to create decoys of people, which relates to his in-game skill of inflicting Feigned.
  • The Cane of Arrogance is a relic that has been passed down Crowlas' royal family for generations. He inherited it when he was young.
  • Crowlas is physically unable to be separated from his cane, which may imply that the same limitation applies to the cursed weapons of the other knights.
  • During Puyo Puyo!! Quest's 11th Anniversary popularity poll, Crowlas ranked as the 3rd most popular blue card.
    • Crowlas was the only character originally from Puyo Puyo!! Quest to rank in the top 3 of any color.

Relationships

Within the Accursed Knights

[★7] Hilda [★7] Friede Hilda and Friede
The two appear to be good friends, and Friede never tries to take their conversations in a romantic direction, something that is uncharateristic for him. During Moonlit Uncursing Tour!, Hilda teaches Friede how to dance. In A Holy Night's Dark Crownight, Hilda and Friede team up to (unsuccessfully) guard Crowlas. In the Vanishing of The Hotspring Steam Bunny, Hilda and Friede make an appearance at the end, investigating the 'Legend of the Accursed Rabbit' in the mountains.
[★7] Hilda [★7] Crowlas Hilda and Crowlas
During the Moonlit Uncursing Tour, Crowlas appoints Hilda as the captain for the trials, citing that she takes her knighthood seriously.
[★7] Wacht [★7] Crowlas Wacht and Crowlas
Wacht is said to be 'always at the side' of Crowlas while on duty, and speaks far more casually with him than his colleagues do, enough to express frustration at his love for crows. Crowlas is seen offering him moon-viewing dango in the commemorative artwork for Moonlit Uncursing Tour!.

Other Characters

[★7] Wacht [★7] Mel Wacht and Mel
The two have conversed multiple times in the hopes that Mel's magic would be able to help Wacht sleep. However, Mel is unable to help him each time.
[★7] Mappela [★7] Kikimora Mappela and Kikimora
During their encounters, a dichotomy is formed between Kikimora's "clean" and Mappela's "dirty". Kikimora has tried and failed to help Mappela clean off her cursed slime.
