The Red Puyo Hat is a hat worn by Amitie.
Appearance
Amitie's most iconic feature is her red Puyo hat. While she is sometimes seen hat-less, she is almost always never without it. The hat's design underwent changes, but they all have the face of a Puyo.
In Puyo Puyo Fever, Puyo Puyo Fever 2 & Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary, the Red Puyo Hat appears as a giant cap. It sports a neutral expression, though it can emote; for example, when Amitie loses a Puyo battle, its eyes turns into X's. This design also appears in Puyo Puyo 7 in Amitie's Mega & Mini forms, though in the case of her Mega form, the cap is much smaller.
In Puyo Puyo 7, the Red Puyo Hat's design was changed into a beanie. This design acts as the standard form from here on out. Starting with Puyo Puyo Tetris, the Red Puyo Hat will have the same expression that Amitie currently has, such as squinting its eyes in happiness/pain or widening its eyes in shock/surprise.
Characteristics
Amitie's red Puyo hat is said to have special powers and has led her several times to speculate about her purpose. The speculation has been pushed aside after Puyo Puyo Fever 2, but its significance has been brought to attention several times. It becomes a plot point in her story in both Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary and is central to her route in Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary, and is briefly discussed in the Japanese version of Puyo Puyo Tetris, when each of the three protagonists must battle someone from their memory. Amitie's opponent is Sig, and she mentions that recently when she looks at him, her red hat reacts. The exact details are left unknown because the Sig in her memory tells her that she should tell that to the real Sig.
In the novel Everyone's Dreams, Coming True!?, Schezo implies that the hat protected Amitie, Arle, and Ringo from the effects of the Dream Mist.
At the end of Stage 8 of Amitie's Episode, after narrowly defeating Sig in a Puyo Puyo battle, the Red Puyo Hat speaks to Amitie once more and says that she is the only one who can save him, and everyone else, from this crisis.
In Stage 8 of Satan's Episode, Satan reveals to Amitie that she has the power to free Sig, and battles her to confirm that she has that power.
In the Grand Finale, Amitie uses her power to free Sig from The Other Sig.
