Bodamaru is a Daruma doll that was created hundreds of years ago, and has turned into a yokai. They have a somewhat stubborn, yet assertive personality. They always carry an inkbrush so that when meeting new people, they can demand that they paint their eyes. Since the ink they use is quick to fall off, they are always seeking new people to paint for them. Bodamaru will then judge others harshly based on the eyes they've painted onto them. Their standards are high, and they become offended when people can't paint them well, though they will become enthused if they believe their eyes are of high quality. If they find someone capable of painting their ideal eyes, Bodamaru will come to admire them, while also becoming much more demanding. The sign on their stomach changes depending on the quality of their painted eyes. They will sometimes attempt to paint their own eyes, but are unsatisfied with the result.
Trivia
- Bodamaru's unfilled eyes are based on the real-life application of Daruma dolls; As they come with blank eyes, the owner selects a goal/wish and inks the left eye. When that wish comes true, the right eye is then inked in.
- Across Bodamaru's artwork, their left eye maintains the same appearance. This may imply that they only ask others to paint their right eye.

Kawatarou is a pretentious young kappa yokai. As a member of the Kappa Clan (カッパ一族), they believe that kappas are far superior to other yokai, and as such, they always act haughty and confident. They are often concerned with their appearance and believe that, as a kappa, maintaining good looks is of the utmost importance. They try to discuss fashion with other yokai, to little impact.
Traditional kappas in Japanese folklore are commonly associated with cucumbers, as it is said to be their favorite food. However, Kawatarou has decided that zucchinis are a much more stylish and fashionable plant. They scorn cucumbers and instead only eat zucchinis, and are constantly seen carrying them around. Despite this, they don't really like the taste of zucchini, and secretly believe that they taste better when simmered. Still, they carry zucchini seeds with them and plant them wherever they can, wishing to be a trendsetter. They also try and get the other Yokai to eat zucchini with them. They refuse to eat anything that they don't deem stylish enough.

Etymology | From "Nekomata" |

Matakichi is a cat yokai formed from multiple spirits. Two polar-opposite spirits, one red and one blue, alternate between control of their body. The soul in control is indicated by the color of Matakichi's eyes and flame on their head. The red spirit is described as having an Edokko-like temperament, being cheerful and assertive. Meanwhile, the blue spirit is gentle and timid. This can leave them at odds, as the red spirit usually wishes to tackle things head-on, while the blue spirit wishes to stay out of trouble. When these two souls take control of the body together, as indicated by heterochromatic eyes and a purple flame, their behavior becomes chaotic and conflicting, as Matakichi is frequently shifting dispositions. While both souls are sometimes at odds, they are said to work surprisingly well together. They both love catnip.
Trivia
- Matakichi is likely inspired by the Nekomata, a two-tailed cat yokai. While Matakichi isn't shown to have any powers associated with the Nekomata, they indeed possess two tails and have an association with souls.
