Ragnus

An image of the article

The up-and-coming hero Ragnus made his first debut in Puyo Puyo Sun. This time, he is the guest for our interview, and we will get a deep dive into his true personality and his strange quirks that surprised even the strangest mage of all: Schezo Wegey.

"My name is Ragnus Bishashi, I'm 175 centimeters tall, 73 kg. (Interviewer comment: When I did the measurements myself, he was 123cm and 21 kg.) Huh? Where was I born? Why? And my birthday? My blood type?! Why are you bothering me with all these questions?! You must be an underling of the Demon Overlord!! I shall cut you down, hi-yah!!!"

Hailing from a Prestigious Family

Interviewer: Hello, thank you for coming on.

Ragnus: Of course! I've been looking forward to this.

Interviewer: Let's see... Your full name is Ragnus Bishashi, yes?

Ragnus: That's right! The Bishashi family is a famous household that has produced many heroes, including myself.

Interviewer: Ah, so you come from a good family then.

Ragnus: One day I'll defeat a wicked dragon and an evil overlord so that I can live up to my ancestors' legacy!

Interviewer: That's quite the grand dream you've got there.

Ragnus: I'm a man, after all, so I think it's only right that I strive for greatness.

Interviewer: The aspirations of men are something I'll never fully understand as a woman ★

Ragnus: ...Cut it out.

Interviewer: ...Er, sorry.

And What Are Your Hobbies?

Interviewer: Do you do anything as a hobby?

Ragnus: Hobbies? I can't say that I have any.

Interviewer: That's understandable, I'm sure heroes lead busy lives.

Ragnus: I like to think I'm a man who focuses on practical things.

Interviewer: Yes, yes, that seems very like you.

Ragnus: But if you made me pick something, I'd say that I really love traveling.

Interviewer: Ooh, traveling... But you'd expect heroes to travel around the world.

Ragnus: R-really?

Interviewer: In other worlds, there are a lot of heroes like that. There are maybe only a few that want to travel in just one dungeon.

Ragnus: I-I can't believe it... I better step up my game too.

Interviewer: Just so you know, though, the inside of the earth, the ocean floor, and outer space have already been explored.

Ragnus: Huh?! Unbelievable...

Cursed Body

Interviewer: Hm? According to my files, it says that you're cursed.

Ragnus: Yeah, that's right. It's really annoying!

Interviewer: And so you turn into a child because of this curse.

Ragnus: I'm actually 17 years old.

Interviewer: I see... Despite how you look, you speak very maturely. I'm very sorry to hear that.

Ragnus: Well, when I earn enough experience points, I can turn back to my real 17-year old self. I'm pretty unbeatable like that...

Interviewer: This sounds like some weird fusion of a role-playing game and a shooting game...

Ragnus: Since this is a special occasion, I'll show you just how unbeatable I am. This kind of opportunity only comes once in a blue moon.

Interviewer Eh, huh, wait, hang on! Why are you drawing your sword?!

Ragnus: Don't worry, you won't die! Oh, I'll also show you some secret techniques while I'm at it.

Interviewer: Y-you can't be serious?!

Ragnus: Huh?! Stop running, waaaaait!

The True Hero

Interviewer: *huff huff*

Ragnus: *huff huff* Y-you run...really fast...

Interviewer: *huff huff* I'm sure chasing after someone while clad in that full suit of armor...Well, it's not the best idea.

Ragnus: This armor is actually... Well, it's a family heirloom. It's a masterpiece that only a true hero can wear.

Interviewer: I see... So it's a legendary suit, huh.

Ragnus: Because of that, I can't just take it off whenever I want.

Interviewer: So that's why you keep wearing it even though it's so loose on you.

Ragnus: Would you like to see something?

Interviewer: Huh?!

Ragnus: When I level up, this armor fits me perfectly!

Interviewer: You're being very insistent about this, aren't you?

Ragnus: I've regained my energy now, but what about you?

Interviewer: Uh...

Ragnus: Behold the true hero!!

Interviewer: EEK!! S-SOMEONE, HELP MEEEEE!!!

Our schedule's still undecided! So that's why our guest this time is Demon Servant. He made his debut in Madou Monogatari ARS but hasn't appeared much since then. Regardless, there were fans who requested his appearance here. (Clap, clap, clap, clap).

"One of many demonic henchmen."

Suddenly, Runelord Appears...

Interviewer: ...(Ahem).

Runelord: Yes?

Interviewer: What are you doing here?

Runelord: Whatever do you mean? I'm the interviewer's assistant.

Interviewer: Did you get permission for that?

Runelord: Did I need permission?

Interviewer: Obviously. I'm the interviewer. You need my permission to show up at all.

Runelord: I mean... Last time I asked you, you just said "Give me a bit to think about it" and then you never said a word to me!

Interviewer: ...You seem a bit different than usual.

Runelord: Ah, you noticed?

Interviewer: I can't put my finger on it, but it's something about the way you're talking and your build...

Runelord: Then try touching me and see for yourself.

Interviewer: ...Huh?! There are things that shouldn't be here, and you're missing some things that should be there...

Runelord: As requested, I changed my sex.

Interviewer: H-how?

Runelord: It's an ancient magic from long ago. It's no problem for me to pull off.

Interviewer: I wonder how well it works...

The uninvited assistant, Runelord.

Runelord: Hehehehe... Would you like to try it for yourself?

Interviewer: Well, you're basically the same inside even if your body's changed. It's kind of creepy.

Runelord: You're so selfish, you know~

Demiserf: Hey, I'm the guest here. Why are you two messing around?

Interviewer: Oh, I completely forgot.

Runelord: Come on, come on, let's start the interview already!

Interviewer: Fine. I'll just deal with Runelord later.

Finally to the Guest Introduction

Interviewer: Now then, our guest this time is Demiserf.

Runelord: Welcome in~

Demiserf: What's with this casual introduction?

Runelord: You're basically a nobody, so you don't need to be so sulky about it.

Demiserf: Well I'm sorry that I'm such a nobody!

Runelord: Are you really~?

Demiserf: Wh-what do you mean?

Runelord: Once a nobody, always a nobody. If you were really born a man, you should've grown into a proper final boss. Ah, though I'm a woman now.

Demiserf: You smartass... Are you asking to be put down?

Runelord: Hehe... Do you think that you can become a final boss if you beat me?

Demiserf ...Tch.

Interviewer: The hierarchy in this business is pretty strict, isn't it? Incidentally, I created you guys, so I'm probably at the top of the list here.

Demiserf: Damn... Am I seriously the guest here?

A Thing For Little Boys?!

Runelord: Let's see... What kind of demon is he, anyway?

Interviewer: In English it's written as "Demon Servant". As the subtitle of this article says it means that he's a demon assistant or demon helper.

Demiserf: That's right. I'm part of a lower class of demons. We are summoned by mages to this world and we carry out their orders. ...Honestly, it sounds pretty pathetic when I put it into words.

Runelord: So in Madou Monogatari R, the last boss who was a vampire count summoned him, right?

Interviewer: Yes.

Demiserf: My orders usually consist of acting like a guardian or patrolling a dungeon.

Interviewer: Even though you're a lower class demon, you seem to be about as strong as other average-level monsters.

Runelord: His kind are exceedingly cunning. You never know when they'll catch you off guard and strike.

Demiserf: Our philosophy is "High risk, high reward". If we can get a big reward, we'll put in just as much effort to acquire it.

Runelord: Even though you look so cute, your mentality is still that of a demon's, isn't it?

Demiserf: My appearance is mostly dictated by the tastes of whoever summons me.

Runelord: So, what was Count's preference?

Interviewer: I can't say for certain, but I wouldn't say that he had a thing for little boys.

Demiserf: Obviously not! If that was the case, I would've killed him on sight. I couldn't care less if he was my summoner.

Runelord: So does that mean that the one who actually has a thing for little boys is Mr. Uemizo?

Interviewer: That ain't true!!

Will He Fly Off the Shelves?!

Interviewer: So, do you have any last comments for our readers?

Demiserf: All you need is one magic circle to summon me. Whether its curses, spying, or rubbing your shoulders, I excel at it all! A handy demon for any household!

Runelord: Doesn't seem like he'll sell well~...

The Origin of the Dark Mage

Today's guest is the final boss of Madou Monogatari S, Runelord. Although his presence was not foreshadowed much in the game itself, he made a sudden appearance at the last moment. For some reason, we've received many postcards requesting his appearance even though all he does is get beaten up by Schezo. Long story short, there isn't much information about him, so people are curious about him.

The Era of Runelord Has Arrived!

Interviewer: I never expected to interview you, of all people...

Runelord: Ahahaha~ It seems that the readers of the underground edition have a much more discerning eye than you do.

Interviewer: Still, I wonder why now...?

Runelord: Because, it is at last time for my era to begin!

Interviewer: But if I round it up, this game came out when I was only 20 years old...

Runelord: Hey! Why are you acting so reluctant to interview me?!

Interviewer: I mean, let's be serious here...

Runelord: You know, since you're the one who created me, you should take responsibility and promote me more proactively.

Interviewer: ...Tch... Have it your way...

Deciphering the Obscured Words...

Interviewer: So, 200 years ago, you were defeated by the hero, right?

Runelord: That's correct. I was the principal mage of my generation, and I held dominion over the capital of Raana.

Interviewer: But because you stuck out so much, you were stricken down.

Runelord: Just being reminded of it makes me shudder... That ■■■■'s ■■■■ is the only thing I cannot forgive...

Interviewer: Why'd you censor that?

Runelord: Hm, why not try and guess?

Interviewer: Are you planning on appearing in some other work behind my back?!

Runelord: I'm looking forward to how it will turn out~...

Interviewer: Stop saying things that'll get their hopes up.

Runelord: Ahahahaha...

Interviewer: Damn. For a tentative final boss, the way you talk always makes it seem like you're up to something.

Runelord: I'm no "tentative" final boss, I'm a fully realized and recognized final boss.

Interviewer: I guess so, if that smart alecky way is what it takes to be a real final boss.

Runelord: All I can say is to keep an eye on future Compile works from now on~

Interviewer: Quit making an ass of yourself.

Schezo as a Student ... ♥

Interviewer: So the Raana group disbanded after you were defeated by the hero, right?

Runelord: Uuugh... To think that the capital of evil where darkness flourished has been reduced to a tourist trap and field trip destination...

Interviewer: Well, that's because "Raana" is just "Nara" read backwards.[1]

Runelord: I... I can't believe it...?

Interviewer: I think it's pretty easy to understand, actually.

Runelord: Your naming sense is so...simple-minded.

Interviewer: Shut up.

Runelord: Still, that worked out in my favor. After all, Schezo Wegey came to my beautiful city as a student because of it.

Interviewer: So you were waiting there as a ghost for someone who was worthy of inheriting your legacy?

Runelord: I waited for someone of his talents for a century–no–a millennia.

Interviewer: Even taking that into consideration, Schezo turned out like..."that".

Runelord: And by "that" you mean...?

Interviewer: Just that he's also racing down the path to becoming a weirdo.

Runelord: I completely agree. He has the potential and the talent for becoming the Dark Mage, but his personality is unfortunate...

Interviewer: I don't think he'll ever get rid of that "creeper" title... Though, I was the one who made that happen, techniclly.

Runelord: *sob* I relate to him so much that I can't help but cry.

Are You Looking Forward to the Sequel?

Interviewer: And with that, it seems that the end of this corner is almost here.

Runelord: Well now, that was fast.

Interviewer: We only have room on one page, you know.

Runelord: So this is the end of the "first page", right?

Interviewer: Huh?

Runelord: If this is to be continued in the next volume, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again next month!

Interviewer: Wait, wait, wait, wait! We're not giving you a follow-up interview.

Runelord: Why not? Of my 23 secrets, I still have 5 left to reveal to our readers...

Interviewer: Yeah, right. We hardly talked that much.

Runelord: Get excited for another interview with me next month~ Take care, everyone!

Interviewer: Are you even listening?! This is the only time I'm interviewing you!

From The Fans Corner

  1. Raana is named after the real Japanese city of Nara, the capital during the Nara period of 710 to 784. The city is a common tourist and field trip destination.
