The Puyo Puyo GLOBAL RANKING SERIES is a series of official and community Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 tournaments with the purpose of promoting international competitive play of Puyo Puyo. Announced by Sega in October 2024, winners would receive an all expenses paid trip to Japan to participate in the Puyo Puyo Grand Prix Final, with an official uniform and a cash prize.[1] This is the first set of competitive events that has global tournament outreach outside of Japan, as well as the first set of Puyo-only tournaments in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 by SEGA.
Rules
Puyo Puyo GLOBAL RANKING SERIES is a series of four tournaments where players compete to get the most points. Points are rewarded based on tournament placement; a person is ranked in the top 4 of a tournament is given more points compared to a player ranked in the top 8. At the end of the four tournaments, the four Japanese players and the four International players with the most points will then compete in the Puyo Puyo Global Ranking Match in January. The winner of that tournament will get the opportunity to participate in the Puyo Puyo Grand Prix Final in March, with international winners getting an all expenses paid trip to Japan. Winners will also be awarded an official uniform.[2]

This was a Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Tournament ran on Switch. The players were divided into four leagues, and the winners of those leagues then fought each other for ranking and points.[3]

Puyo Puyo Global Match
Puyo Puyo Global Match is an Sega held tournament. The tournament is split into two divisions, an S-class and an B-class division, and takes place over two "rounds". In round 1, each division is split into 16 groups; and the player that wins in that group will participate in round 2, a single elimination bracket that determines their ranking. All matches are a first to 5 wins.[4]
