Strengthening Menu

Strengthening Menu (強化メニュー) is the portal for players to access Card Strengthening methods for a specific base card. It is mainly accessed through the Strengthening (強化) section under the Card menu.

In the Strengthening section, the player will be asked to select the card to be strengthened in the Strengthening Card Select (強化カード選択) screen. Depending on the cards, materials and items in possession, each card may have one of the following icons on its top-left corner:

Icon Meaning

Power-up Fusion

Power-up Fusion

Power-up Fusion (パワーアップ合成) uses other cards as materials to strengthen the base card, destroying the materials in the process.

Strengthening Effect

Depending on the materials used, Power-up Fusion can strengthen the base cards in the following ways:

Card Level

Card Level (カードレベル) of a card is raised by giving it Card Experience (CXP) (カードけいけんち). The stats (HP, Attack and Recovery) of the card increases with every Card Level gained following a predetermined curve.

Almost all cards will grant CXP when fused in Power-up Fusion, with the exception of some material cards that have other special strengthening effects. Notable cards that grants large amounts of CXP include:

  • Material Puyos are highly accessible materials available from many quests, events and campaigns
  • Exclusive transformation materials for event characters can be fused in Power-up Fusion for the same CXP as Material Puyos of the same rarity

In addition, fusing cards with matching characteristics as the base card in Power-up Fusion gives bonus CXP than normal (stacked additively):

  • Same main color as the base card: +50%
  • Exact same card as the base card (character and rarity): +50%
Big Success in Power-up Fusion

The result of Power-up Fusion can be either "Success" (成功) or "Big Success" (大成功).

  • For normal players, a Power-up Fusion attempt may be "Big Success" at a designated rate and gives double CXP. The rate may be increased for a limited time during certain campaigns.
  • For PuyoQuest Pass holders, all Power-up Fusion attempts are guaranteed to be "Big Success" and gives four times CXP.

Other than Power-up Fusion, a card can also gain Card Experience by being used in Story Quests or used as Farm Helper.

Skill Level/Battle Skill Level

Skill Level (スキルレベル) of a card with (active) Skill is raised by giving it Skill Experience (SXP) (スキルけいけんち). Every Skill Level gained reduces the number of Puyo pops needed to activate the skill by one, up to a maximum of five. A similar system exists for Battle Skills with Battle Skill Level (バトルスキルレベル) and Battle Skill Experience (BSXP) (バトルスキルけいけんち).

SXP/BSXP are mainly granted by fusing the same or equivalent characters of the base card in Power-up Fusion, based on the rarity of the fused card. If the fused card was previously given SXP/BSXP, those experience points will be transferred to the base card.

Plus Bonus

Plus Bonus (プラスボーナス) further increases the stats of a card beyond its normal growth curve. Plus Bonus may be attached to either HP, Attack or Recovery to increase that stat. A card can have a maximum of +100 Plus Bonus attached on each stat, or a total of +300.

Basic Cost

The basic cost charged for each fused card is determined by the base card's card level, and the fused cards' types and rarities:

Plus Bonus Additional Cost

The Plus Bonus additional cost is charged for each stat (HP/Attack/Recovery) that fused character cards have Plus Bonus attached. This additional cost is determined by:

(Final Plus Bonus of that stat on the base card after fusion, max 100) ×500

Using material cards (Pusler, Book of Secrets) to attach Plus Bonus to the base card does not incur additional cost. If both character cards and material cards are fused at the same time, Plus Bonus contributed by fused material cards is excluded from the calculation.

Selecting Cards to Fuse

Players can select up to 10 character cards or material cards (in stacks of up to 99 of the same card) at one time in Power-up Fusion. The game will show the expected resultant Card Level, Skill Level and Battle Skill Level as each card is selected.

Note that certain cards are greyed out and cannot be selected to be fused in Power-up Fusion:

  • Cards that contribute to none of the four strengthening effects
  • Cards that are otherwise locked from being fused or sold, for example:
    • Characters that are limited to one per player and have no other ways to obtain if disposed (including Spacetime Detective Series)
    • Event characters of the currently ongoing event
Automatic Fusion Settings

Players can also choose to use Automatic Fusion (おまかせ合成) to have same-color Material Puyos automatically selected relative to the CXP needed to reach maximum Card Level. Players can specify the types of Material Puyos used by Automatic Fusion from the Automatic Fusion Settings (おまかせ合成設定) pop-up (gear button).

Transformation Fusion

Transformation Fusion

Transformation Fusion (へんしん合成) lets players raise the rarity of a card by using designated material cards, which in general gives the card better skills and potential for higher stats. The materials will be destroyed in the fusion.

Normal Transformation

The normal Transformation (へんしん) function can only raise the rarity one step at a time. The conditions required to complete the Transformation are:

  1. The base card must be at maximum Card Level (through Power-up Fusion or other means);
  2. The player owns the required transformation materials; and,
  3. The increased card cost after Transformation will not cause any deck to exceed the Cost Cap
Means to Obtain pop-up, with shortcut to relevant quest

The Transformation screen will show the types and quantity of necessary transformation materials, as well as the quantity currently held in the inventory. Players can tap the Means to Obtain (入手方法) to open a pop-up that gives recommendations on where to gather more of that type of materials; shortcuts to the relevant quest(s) are available from the pop-up for certain types of materials.

SPPQ-cardstr hsmat.png

When all conditions are met, the fusion can be completed by tapping the Transformation Fusion! (へんしん合成!) button at the bottom.

One-go Transformation

One-go Transformation (いっきにへんしん) is a function that lets players raise multiple rarity steps at once, added on 2022/07/06 with the Version 10.4.0 update. The conditions required to complete the Transformation are:

  1. Unlike normal Transformation, the base card does not need to be at maximum Card Level, but the player should own enough Material Puyos to raise the Card Level to maximum before each step;
  2. The player owns the required transformation materials for all steps; and,
  3. The increased card cost does not cause any deck to exceed

The player will first need to pick the Transform Target, i.e. which rarity to transform into. Tap Select (えらぶ) to enter the "Transform Target Select" (へんしん先選択) screen, tap to check the card icon of the desired rarity, then tap the Confirm (確定) button.

Extra Training Board

Extra Training Board (とくもりとっくんボード) is a card strengthening feature available to only certain ★7 cards. Three types of abilities can be granted to the base card through the Board.

Extra Power

Extra Power section

Extra Power (とくもりパワー) grants the chance to obtain additional cards or items as Extra Power Bonus (とくもりボーナス) when clearing certain quests. The Extra Power of a card can be raised to a maximum of Lv.10.

A list of all possible cards/items obtainable can be found by tapping the Extra Power Bonus (とくもりボーナス) button in the Quest Details dialogue box (opened by tapping the blue top-right corner of the quest panel). The number of cards/items obtainable is determined by the total Extra Power level for all cards in the deck (excluding the supporter card not from the same guild):

Total EP Level No. of EP Bonus Total EP Level No. of EP Bonus
0 0 1~19 0~1
20 1 21~39 1~2
40 2 41~59 2~3
60 3 61~79 3~4
80 4 81~99 4~5
100 5

Extra Power Experience (とくもりけいけんち) is needed to raise a card's Extra Power. Extra Power Experience can be applied to a base card by fusing Extra Training Stones, exact duplicates at ★6~7 rarity or applicable Sir Wildes/Wilde Stones. The Extra Power Experience needed to reach each Extra Power Level, and the Extra Power Experience granted from each of the materials, are as follows:

Extra Power Change

Extra Power Change of Puubot

Extra Power Change (とくもりチェンジ) is a purely cosmetic transformation available from the Extra Training Board, giving the card new icon and character arts. It is only applicable to cards at the maximum Extra Power level (Lv.10).

To apply Extra Power Change, tap the Extra Power Change (とくもりチェンジ) button in the Extra Power section after reaching maximum Extra Power level. You will be able to preview the new appearance in a pop-up before fully committing to the change. Tap Yes (はい) to confirm the change.

Note that the card cannot revert to its original appearance after Extra Power Change is completed. Effects of maximum Extra Power level can be enjoyed without applying Extra Power Change.

Extra Critical

Extra Critical

Extra Critical (とくもりクリティカル) is the ability to deal critical attacks at a small chance granted by equipping a Critical Stone (クリティカルストーン) into the designated slot on the Extra Training Board. Higher-level Critical Stones

Extra Critical Level Extra Critical Effect
Activation Chance Damage Up Rate
Lv.1 1% ×1.05
Lv.2 1% ×1.10
Lv.3 2% ×1.15
Lv.4 2% ×1.20

Lv.6 3% ×1.30
Lv.7 4% ×1.35
Lv.8 4% ×1.40
Lv.9 5% ×1.45
Lv.10 5% ×1.50

Cards can only equip Critical Stones that matches the card's main color. Note that the Critical Stone CANNOT be unequipped from the card once equipped. Players can replace the original Critical Stone with a new Critical Stone, but the original Critical Stone will be destroyed instead of returning to the inventory.

Extra Skill

Extra Skill

Extra Skill (とくもりスキル) is an additional skill granted by equipping a Skill Stone (スキルストーン) into the designated slot on the Extra Training Board.

There are two categories of Extra Skills:

  • Extra Support Skill (とくもりサポートスキル): passive skill activated when the listed activation condition is met. Tokumori! (とくもり!) will be shown on the card icon when the skill is activated. While not noted in official documentation, it was found that Extra Support Skills with the same general effect are not stacked and only the effect with the highest parameters is active.
  • Extra Killer Skill (とくもりキラースキル): damage increase effect when the card attacks an enemy of a specific trait (color, type or combination). A Killer Icon (キラーアイコン) will appear on the card when locking on a target that satisfies the requirement.

The Extra Skills available to a card is fixed according to the character/series, with increasing parameters when higher-level Skill Stones are equipped. Note that some Extra Skills may share identical parameters across several adjacent levels.

Cards can only equip Skill Stones that matches the card's main color. Note that the Skill Stone CANNOT be unequipped from the card once equipped. Players can replace the original Skill Stone with a new Skill Stone, but the original Skill Stone will be destroyed instead of returning to the inventory.
