An unnamed sorcerer appears as a minor character in the Puyo Puyo series. Despite only being described in the backstory of Puyo Puyo (1992), has a great impact on the series through his creation of the spell Owanimo, which Arle Nadja uses in Puyo Puyo battles. Outside of his given backstory, imagery of the sorcerer appeared in places such as Nazo Puyo (PC-98) and official Compile stores.
Biography
The manual for the PC-98 version of Puyo Puyo describes the sorcerer as conceiving the Owanimo spell many years ago, recording it in his Book of Magic, and sealing it away, deeming the spell useless. This book is eventually discovered by Arle, which, in Madou Monogatari: Michikusa Ibun is shown to be hidden in a dungeon.
