Some characters in Puyo Puyo!! Quest are only alternate and/or costumed versions derived from an original character. In such case they are considered to be equivalent characters. Equivalent characters are considered duplicates when being considered for Combination Bonus activation. Cards of equivalent characters can be used in Power-up Fusion to gain Skill Experience for increasing the base card's Skill Level.

Note that exceptions exists to the equivalent character, including characters that although shares names but are actually different people (e.g. Arle/Doppelganger Arle and Ringo/Poison Ringo) or otherwise announced cases (usually as Puyo Fest alts e.g. Arle/Kitty Arle).
