Intro

Hi there! I'm only rarely known as Alloa, but I'm not sure how associated I want to be with other sites/discord yet to give my other name. I'm a semi-newcomer to Puyo Puyo, now a fan for over two years! I was quite inactive in my first year as a fan due to a moving situation between states (that I can only describe as an ultimate disaster) which lasted nearly half a year before other events kicked in, but that's in the past now. At first, I never imagined that I would contribute anything to the series other than fan art, but while reading a bit here that struck me as off, I decided on a spur of the moment to sign up and help add or fix whatever I can!

I'm also slowly, but surely, learning Japanese. I would describe my current level as an advanced beginner, but regardless, I decided I want use the skills I have to try and decrease the unfortunately large language barrier Puyo Puyo has. So far I've mostly just translated fan content for friends and practice, but I also plan to help translate whatever official content I am able.

I may write WIP translations at the bottom of this page. (By the way, this is my first time editing a wiki. Please bear with me and feel free to correct any mistakes I make!)

Favorite characters: I really like the Primp characters and world the most. Amitie and Sig in particular are my absolute favorites, and the first characters I latched onto when playing. I also have a lot of Fever 2 bias in general, haha. To name some other cool characters, I would say maybe... Yu and Rei, Arle, Salde (except when you have to read his Japanese text in fish form, goodness help me), and Atari, off the top of my head.

Planned and Current Translations (WIP)

These translations are a work-in-progress. I'm not confident about making my own new page, so I'm not sure where else to put them. If anybody somehow comes across this page, please don't move anything without my knowledge.

My process for translating is to create a transcript (if there isn't one already) of what I am planning to translate, and then move on to actually translating the text. I am not fluent (I would guess around N4 level Japanese) so I try to use resources to help myself. Since I don't have assistance, I apologize if some of these take an eternity to be worked on.

All Sega-era Character Bios

From games, sites, manuals, etc. I'd like to actually put these on character pages once they're finished and translated so that we can get as much info as possible that the characters have had. They'll most likely be in tables similar to chants. comparing the original Japanese text, a fan translation, and the official localization if one exists. It's likely that most of the site bios are different from the in-game ones, so this could become quite extensive...

Note to self:

• I should consider adding the descriptions from Fever 2's ARS course select to these as well.
• Also the bios (plus word of developments) from the Arcadia magazine written for the original arcade release? They could give some interesting information otherwise not found in any other bio. Technically they should count for character bio sections, shouldn't they?

20th Anniversary Web Original Manzai Demo (Current)

Currently working on this. Since I've prewritten the transcripts elsewhere, these are tedious to format, so it's taking a while to copy all of them over.

Note to self: Check all text over sometime to make sure all dakuten/handakuten and small kana are correct among spelling in general.

Edit Dec. 8, 2021: After many distractions, in the end Precise Museum translated these before I was able to finish, but I'm thinking of keeping this section to preserve the Japanese text somewhere on this wiki despite that.

Pachinko CR Puyo Puyo Songs

I was actually trying to work on this a while back, but I have trouble hearing the lyrics properly sometimes. I also realized that the uploader of the videos eventually put up the Japanese lyrics for some of the tracks (though there seems to be some errors in them, so I wonder if I should say something...) I'll possibly return to this eventually.

Notes:

• Is it possible to do pages for songs so we can write the lyrics to them?
• (For self) if this actually happens sometime then it could create an easy way to differentiate who sings which part for the fourth song by using colors.

Compilation of Information on Amitie Regarding the Goddess + Hat (Current)

There's a reason why this is being written, because sometimes I can't keep the lore straight and need an easy reminder. Plus, having this all in a document makes it easier to explain and discuss info with others. I've already semi-done this compilation in discord, but I need to move it somewhere better and fix it up.

Materials:

• Fever 1 arcade release excerpt from Arcadia game magazine
• Fever 2:
  • Arca history 1 and 2 (Should Primp history be included too?)
  • Moonlit Arca and Eternal Arca
  • Does the Tome of Sealing say anything? ( think... if I remember correctly, some kind of divine figure was at least mentioned there but less specific...)
• Check what Schezo (15th Anniversary?) or other characters have said about the hat's power
• Amitie's story in 20th Anniversary, even from the beginning when the hat speaks
• Everyone's Dream's, Coming True!?:
  • I believe the hat protects the AAA trio from the dream mist at some point, or Schezo commented on it
  • The hat speaks at the end of chapter 9
• Red Amitie's skill in Quest

Note to self:

• Don't forget to bring up about the confusion regarding the sun symbols/motif and the PPF2 goddess being of the moon (also interpretations).
• Possibly refer to some character parallels between Arle and Amitie.
• I wonder if it's possible to extend this and do a lore masterlist for all of the Primp Town and Fever 2 stuff in general because that would make all the information so much more accessible in English.

Possible Future Translation Projects

Parts of Puyo Puyo Fever 2

I'm aware Precise Museum plans to do their own translation of this game in the future, but I'm thinking about working on these anyway (especially since I may apply to be a member of that translation group in the future, meaning I could possibly be working on this anyway).

• I told someone once that I would translate the menus for them (in some form, possibly just an edit over screenshots, since I don't have the ability to change the game itself), but I haven't gotten around to this yet.
• Maybe some of the books in the Precise Museum that haven't already been done by other people yet.

Arcadia Magazine (Enterbrain) March 2004 Issue (Issue #046?)

If it's even possible for me to get my hands on this, or scans of it someday. This has character information for the Arcade release of Fever 1. This is the magazine cited by a few Japanese sources that states that Amitie is a reincarnation of a Goddess (widely assumed within most of the Japanese fandom, btw, to be the Goddess of the Moon briefly mentioned in Fever 2's books, which some people may find surprising!). Apparently there's more interesting information about other characters as well that comes from this magazine, so it would seriously be amazing to break this specific language barrier. It's a literal dream, even.

We at least have the excerpt from Amitie's section. And I think I may have stumbled across a picture of another character's entire section when looking on the internet recently...

Edit Dec. 8, 2021: After several months, my copy of this never arrived for some reason, so PM also beat me to the punch there... I'll decide at a later time what to do with this section, but it will merge into the "All bios" project either way.

Puyo Puyo Tetris (Chapters 8-10)

A fan translation already exists of this game on YouTube, but only for the main story. There are differences in certain scenes, such as delivery or even dialogue as a whole on occasion between the original Japanese, and the official English version, and some people (including me) who are aware of these differences would like to be able to see them and compare when wanted. Because people are still curious about the dlc chapters I'm keeping this for consideration.

Edit Dec. 8, 2021: As of now, the videos of the fan translation have been privated for some reason. I'm not sure what this'll mean for this section for now.
