Do any of the patches work with either the 3rd or 4th versions of the game? I own the 3rd and 4th versions of the game, but not the first two versions.
If you're trying to patch the game, you need to use a flashcart and ROM dump. Since your ROM dump won't work, you might as well just find another ROM dump on the internet. Alternatively, check the first link in my signature.
Are there any plans to release a patch for the "Special Price" version? A few of the posts here seem to suggest that a patch for the "Special Price" version was being worked on.

Well a member here dumped the special price version HOWEVER - it's a bit tricky how this goes. The current patch is /FOR/ the old savebug fixed version (i believe it's the second or third one) and patches /TO/ special price. In other words, It goes to the newest version upon patching, it just doesn't support taking in the newest version..

In other words, first link in my signature, Puyo Puyo section, and you'll find a prepatched ROM :)

Thanks for the info.

Maybe I can give some clarification on the numbering of the 4 versions, since I think some of the posts in this forum are misidentifying the "Special Price" version as version 1.2 when in fact it's version 1.3.

The original is version 1.0.
The save bug was fixed in version 1.1. (I think this is the version the translation patch was made for.)

I own both versions 1.2 and 1.3 and I can confirm that version 1.2 is not the Special Price version and that version 1.3 is indeed the Special Price version.

I have verified that the versions I own have the same checksums as the checksums given in the following blog post for versions 1.2 and 1.3:

Hmm. That's interesting. So another version was released before the Special Price version? I wonder if the Puyo Sniper data was in that one.

Probably a completely pointless post but apparently someone finally bloody dumped the Special Price version (scene release #4387). So, yeah, if you are new here make sure not to get that one if you want to use the patch. On the other hand, if you can read Japanese or is a weeaboo, get that one if you want to play online without the Wi-Fi disconnect bug.
